Re: The Lance Stephenson Thread
I'm telling you, the 5 years and the overall big number is the Pacers advantage. No one wants to give him that much guaranteed money for that length.
I'd offer him 2 years with a team option on 3rd. $13M a year and see what he does. That'd keep him on a short contract and he'd make half of the Pacers 5 year offer in 2 years. The lower the yearly rate, the more chance he chooses the Pacers contract.
We don't need to offer a long contract because it could blow up in our face. But it'd be hard to turn down $13M a year for 2 possibly 3 years on good behavior.

What has he actually done since that incident with his girlfriend four years ago when he was a 19-year-old rookie? Blow in Lebron's ear? Done a stupid dance after hitting a big shot? Who cares? He's a competitor whose very occasional antics get blown WAY out of proportion. He doesn't go out of his way to hurt people on the court like Artest, Bynum, or Beverley, he's not getting into fights ten times a year like Stephen Jackson and he is NOT a locker room cancer. His teammates seem to love him. George and Hibbert are supposed to be the leaders on the team, and both had their problems doing so- if there's one player on the Pacers who doesn't deserve blame for their collapse last season, it's Stephenson. He's a fierce and very talented competitor. I am ready to go all out for him. I will support any Stephenson to Charlotte signing for any price. Rather not let it get to the max, but if that's what it takes, I do it.
He fought with multiple teammates and was regarded as the guy who sunk the team that at the time was playing the best in the NBA. He killed that lock room by being a moron. Almost every rumor that came out was about how he was causing problems behind the scenes. His crazy infected the team and cost them a chance at a run to the finals.

Then let him and carry room into FA next season. Locking that much into him for two years still gives him plenty of time to kill our squad.

Well we don't have a max slot with the Marvin Williams signing. We probably have about 12M to 13M left. That better be enough for Lance.
investigate Adam Silver

Lance didn't kill that locker room dude he was just an easy target. Paul George was a pretty big problem himself. They were never that amazing to begin with and when they started to regress back to their true selves the entire locker room blew up. They thought they were hot **** and they weren't. Lance wasn't the only issue.

But he was the one fighting guys at practice. He was the one that all the rumors say caused the problems. With his talent if the talk around the league wasn't about how bad he is in a locker room he would already have signed a good deal somewhere.

Andrew "bowling alley" Bynum and Evan Turner ruined the locker room (mainly Bynum) the locker room was perfectly fine until they got there

Please sign Lance so that I can salvage some happiness from this FA.

The reports say it was fine until Granger left because he kept Lance in check.

that also had a play in it im sure, adding 2 bad locker room guys and trading your leader will make the "most crazy" member of the locker room (Lance) go even more crazy, i really doubt he does anything here, we have multiple leaders here not to mention MJ will have a strong influence on him

What cost them a chance at a run to the finals was that they were never that great in the first place. Lance was the convenient target and a lazy explanation for that teams real issues. Obviously though he was a part of it and I agree that he's a huge risk. I just think we should go for it. I remember watching a lot of those games and you can't deny that the guy is passionate. He wants to win he just needs the right environment. Indiana was a **** show. If the contract is reasonable it's the type of move that could pay huge dividends.

That is why. I said 4/40 and cap it there. Reasonable contract with last year a team option.

4/40.
If he asked for a penny more I walk away from the table. I like the talent but he isn't a great fit here. Ball stopper with not great outside shot.
Aye, he made more 3-pointers at a higher percentage than a 'GH' that's not on our team
No offense, but can we move on from that? Lance objectively does not have a great outside shot.
