Re: The Marvin Williams Thread
Tons of money but little time of contract and can play 2 positions. I don´t like the deal but not as horrible as it could have been, if we sign Lance and a 3rd PG I´ll call it a good off-season, even with McRoberts loss

He might be better than Zeller right now (Im not even sure to be honest), but it isn't worth going out and spending 7 million on.

This deal sucks, but it's hardly a killer.
10.8/5.1/1.3/0.8/0.5 on .447/.335/.801 aren't scrub numbers.
Stop it. That's a garbage contract for a highly replaceable player. Rather see MKG take some PF minutes if necessary and play with more shooters at the 2 and 3. This is stupid.
Also no way Marvin Williams starts and anything good comes of that.
Stop what?
He's not a scrub, he's a serviceable player in this league.
The deal sucks, he'll get paid 2.4m over 2 seasons, more than he is worth in this market.

I wouldn't have paid him half of this deal. Dude straight up isn't a starter.

He probably won't start though!
7m for a bench player is freaking ridiculous though.
Marvin was going to get the MLE, so I imagine we had to offer a little bit more than that.

And for what? Tolliver gave us better perimeter shooting, and really isn't too much of a downgrade in other areas to warrant paying Williams $14M!

So, you want to start Tolliver at PF?
Williams could easily be starting for us if Cody or Noah dont step up right away. Otherwise he will likely play 30 minutes a game between SF-PF.
Would you have been comfortable giving those minutes to Tolliver?

Well McBob got 5.8m per for his career averages of 5.7/4.2/2.1/0.5/0.5 on .476/.342/.701
Marvin is a much better player than Tolliver also.
People can hate this deal, but hating on Marvin, makes no sense imo.
He's serviceable.

Shocked Cho didn't get Carter. Someone talk the FO into believing Lance went to UNC!

Just wait until next year when we go after Alec Burks.

Decent defender. Has a 3 point shot. He is a terrible passer though.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

This is clearly the area Marvin has to improve in the most. Especially if he plays that stretch 4 some.

You folks have a fetish for Jazz players or something?
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I am perfectly fine starting any of Vonleh, Cody, Bismack, even MKG at power forward next to Big Al.
Even assuming that Clifford sticks to playing players at their main positions: Where is Marvin Williams getting 30 minutes? Al and Biz take center, Vonleh and Zeller probably split 35 power forward minutes between themselves, maybe more. MKG starts at SF like usual, likely with a boost in minutes. If we sign a starting two-guard like Lance (I haven't lost all hope yet), we still need minutes for Henderson, Hairston, and maybe CDR and JT. Where does Williams get 30 minutes? Tolliver proved he was just fine for 15-20 minutes and that's all we needed. Mike Scott, Tolliver, Rocky, Marion, and a number of different players could have filled this role for half price or less.

I should probably ask this now: you guys aren't going to match a max contract for Ian Clark, right?

It's been alleged and/or rumored that once Cho sets his infatuation on one particular place that it's difficult for him to subside it
