Didn't see the game but NBA.com's highlights showed Orton's assists. They were pretty slick. I hope his defense was adequate enough for him to fill in as backup PF. He and Porter would make for a really interesting and effective offensive 2-man pairing.

Sadly Orton sucks at everything else, and commits a lot of stupid fouls that he wouldn't get away with in the league. And he looks out of shape too

Orton might be able to find his role as a bench player.

I'm kind of liking Birch and Orton's chances to make the team now that TA is not signed.

I think they would let Booker leave.

Wall/Miller/Temple
Beal/Glen
Otto/?? or ??/Otto
Nene/Gooden/Birch
Gortat/Orton

Room for Hump/PP/Okafor/etc Maybe Kevin S stays.

Looking forward to seeing the final roster.

I already said what I think will happen, but if Otto proves me wrong then that will be for the best. It would be unlike anything I can recall, because his first year was epically bad.

Let's see how things pan out.

I don't understand the sentiment that Otto's first year was epically bad. If he played a lot of minutes and played like he did during his spot minutes, then I would agree. However, the kid hardly played. I don't see how anyone could grade his first year other than incomplete.

Porter and GRJr better show me something to get overly optimistic about.

I wasn't able to watch the game, so you best believe I'll be DVRing the 6AM rebroadcast on NBATV.

Otto and Rice Jr. combining for 47 points. How's that for some hope.

Orton has good touch, looks like a decent rebounder, had some pretty passes but might've had 3 t.o.s just being careless passing to the pg after a defensive rebound. Looks shorter than advertised, a tad out of shape & just off on defensive rotations

OP looking the goods.

Rice looks like a decent stand in if we trade Webster.

No to Orton. Played well but i cant see him in the big leagues playing like that at all.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Sounds like a bargain bin Boris Diaw.

JK

My wife had the foresight to DVR it for me. Love that lady.

Midway through the first quarter and already seeing why nobody wants to touch Orton with a ten foot pole.

I saw a picture of Orton, in camp and he looked like he had been hitting the gym. I was clearly mistaken and he had been hitting the Pie stand instead. He does not look like he has been working out at all.

gambitx777 wrote:I knew Porter and Rice would do well today! but it's just the first summer league game, let's see how they do. I would like to see glen not be so dependent on FT's. points are points but I would like to see him knock down more shots. Birch played well, I have no clue why we are playing wayns.................Burton need's to be given more of a chance, Wayns has no future on this team or in the league and we need to give that time to players who could have a chance in the league. Giving him 23 minutes a game is insane, but I guess they know hes not going to try to take over the game, therefore giving porter and rice the opportunities that they need.

Pts are the line are awesome pts. They are points plus the foul.

We needed that last year since Wall didn't drive as much as post year ( I think in part to save him body so he could play the entire year )

So Orton is a nice passer for a big. He has been one of my long shot projects since the days I say him at KU. I think he will find his way onto an NBA bench.

I had a vision of him playing a useful roll for some team off the bench in a playoff game and when I see something like that, its tend to come true. But it might still be a few years away.

I want them to keep Birch and Orton around. They would be nice end of roster additions.

So whats the head count now.

Wall/Miller
Beal/Webby/Glen
PP/Otto
Nene/Gooden
Gortat/Kevin

With Booker, Temple still in limbo. Maybe a long shot on AH. Its going to be tight.

 It's funny how that description almost makes him sound like that, but not at all. He's nothing like Diaw.

Diaw is a former skilled 6'8 PG/SG who gained weight and switched positions. Orton is just a big, chubby 6'10 dude who never developed any skills other than passing out of the high post and hitting the occasional PnP jumper.
