Alright, Billy King is back in my doghouse for not re-signing him/trading him. Traded so many firsts for him and KG and he loses Pierce for an MLE contract and KG may end up retiring after a season.

KG will probably look for a buyout now.

I don't think people realize what a phenomenal move this is for the Nets.

Hopefully this signals the end of force-feeding players minutes based on past accomplishments / reputation.

KG will most likely not want to be here. Hawks can swap picks with us next draft. I honestly don't see how this is a phenomenal move for the Nets.

LMAO, this was the worst possible thing that could happen. Losing Pierce for nothing.

Yay, so glad we saved our money by not paying Pierce...now we're not going to pay ridiculous luxury taxes...oh wait, we still are? Ok, cool.

He was our 2nd best player last year. We're significantly worse without him.

Why couldn't we sign Pierce to a 1 year, 12 million dollar deal again? Seriously WTF does that do to our luxury tax payments at this point?

Prokorov wants to save money for 2016...he didn't say anything about 2015.

Because Billy King couldn't find another 1st round pick to give away with him in a trade for more 2nd rounders.

It was just reported the other day that KG was not answering texts/calls from Hollins. I can definitely see the buyout coming.

Going into next season our big rotation currently is:
Mirza/AK
Brook/Plumlee

That's not good, especially since two of them can't stay healthy. We really need to call Blatche and get him back as well as look into signing Boozer if he clears.

But seriously **** you Billy King! I've been preaching since the beginning of free agency to lock Pierce up early and we got burned. Burned big time, signed for the freaking MLE. SMH

to be honest, im glad he is gone.... dont get me wrong, id much have prefered getting a pick off the clippers for him. but either way im glad he is gone. there is just no way he was going to work next to lopez as a PF. and as a SF moving JJ to SG would also result in us being a horrific defensive team.

His only real value would have been scoring punch off the bench. and we have plenty of that. glad king didnt do something dumb like give him 6-8 million on next years cap, eliminating any chance of us getting under the tax next year.

as a benefit, this may mean KG retires or accepts a trade, both of which would be big for us

I dont want KG back. All he is going to do is cut into Plumlee's minutes. if this spells KG not coming back, then i love the move.

PF was an issue, but was an issue even if pierce came back. for me this doesnt change much. we are still a treadmill playoff team with a second round ceiling who needs a PF and a SG

Why are you guys so happy that two of our best players from last year (Pierce and KG) are going to leave? Do you not understand we're on the verge of giving up a lottery pick to the Hawks unless we make the playoffs?

KG was our best defender and rebounder, and Pierce was our 2nd best overall player. They're not easily replaced.

Agreed....

If KG wants a buyout, we can trade him, get a player making 10-14 million in salary(boozer?) and have that team buy him out.

its a good chip to have

SMH this nonsense again. Mirza is a worse rebounder, his DRB % was lower than Pierce's and a worse defender. He is a less efficient shooter lower TS%. I can't see in any way how's he a better fit. And whose his backup if AK goes down? We don't have one. And when Brook misses time like he would then Pierce would be starting next to Plumlee.

Right now there's a good chance we miss the playoffs and give Atlanta a lottery pick.
