I agree but maintaining flexibility is what's gotten the rockets this far, so morey is sticking to his plan of saving room for a 3rd star.. I think he doesn't believe that the current roster with Parsons as the third best player could win the championship so he's sticking to his strategy. It'll piss off some rockets fans but I respect his long term perspective of ultimately trying to win a championship.

How far have they gotten? First round exit? This is an absolute nightmare offseason for Houston, I admire your optimism but it really looks like denial at this point.

Lost Lin, Asik, first round pick and Parsons for... Ariza. Sorry dude that's terrible. Howard doesn't care about future flexibility, he wants to win now. Always saving for the future, and never locking in and committing to a team. That seems to be Morey in a nutshell.

This far as in going from a crippled team that needed to be rebuilt to now having the best SG and C in the game, and being able to contend, and still having the flexibility to make more moves, all in the span of a few years.

I definitely don't disagree that this offseason has been a big disappointment for the Rockets, and they've downgraded and now have more issues to fix. There's no sugarcoating that. But it's not like they don't have the assets or flexibility to fix those issues. That's the key. That's Morey's style. He prefers being able to make moves now and in the future. Many people may not like that style but that's just the way he operates.

Houston is having a seriously rough offseason. Everything they hoped would work hasn't.

Related note: hilarious money being thrown around this summer. Everyone's clearly betting on that new TV deal being super duper rich.

I see everyone keep saying Asik, but wasn't that just a verbal thing?

So this offseason they lose:
Lin
Asik
Parsons
1st round draft pick

To try and get
Melo or Bosh

But end up with

Trevor Ariza

 Enjoy another first round exit guys

Asik doesn't want to come back. If he does, I bet you that either he starts, or he's back on the injury list.

Great play by Cuban. They not only block Houston from a big deal like Bosh, they get a great player in Parsons who's game will mesh great with Dirk and Monta. I agree it's a huge overpay but Mavs need someone this off season. Only other player I would have wanted (if they couldn't get Parsons) would be Bledsoe.

They still have a hole at PG because I see Harris as a backup. They need to move Felton, he sucks. Ellis needs a better backup than Ledo. I wonder if Shawn Marion will walk because they have too many SF at this point. Maybe package Felton + S&T Marion for some decent PG?

Felton/Harris/Mekel
Monta Ellis/Ledo
Chandler Parsons/Jefferson/Crowder
Dirk Nowitzki/B.Wright
Tyson Chandler/G.Smith

Front court of parsons/dirk/chandler. Not bad, with Marion versatility off bench and Ellis providing scoring. Could be better than Houston now hah

Ouch. Like a baseball player that swings so hard for a home run that he loses balance and just ends up falling on his ace.

Marion isn't on the Mavs roster.

Has this been posted? He looks fitting in a Mav uniform:

* Since 1985, Jeremy Lin became one of 15 players to have scored at least 20 points, seven assists and a steal for six games in a row, including 136 points in 5 starts beating out Iverson, Jordan and O'Neal :D

Smart move. Parsons is an overrated player and it is not worth that kind of money. All those criticizing Morey for letting him walk would be the same people criticizing him if he matched the offer and killed the Rockets' flexibility and championship hopes.
