Not that he doesnt deserve to get paid because he does and will but didnt we offer Hayward over 16 Mill a year? Thats just outta control.

Allow me to forewarn you that they'll tell you that signing Marvin Williams for $7 million annually was a good signing since other teams were 'allegedly' willing to give him the MLE (which is somewhere between $5-6 million), but in that very same vein, they'll tell you that Kemba shouldn't receive a contract offer over $8-9 million annually. It's ludicrous, I know...

Walker has nothing to do with Williams, he will be compared to his counterparts at PG, like Lowry for instance. If Walker can improve his shooting he will get a contract like Lowry, if he cant he wont.

Charlotte needs to sell Lance on the idea that he can be the face of the franchise if he plays up to his potential here. He plays with a chip on his shoulder, like he has something to prove and has always played in the shadow of Paul George. He needs to be on an up-and-coming team that can look to him as the go-to guy. We're still going to have spacing issues and that sucks but we're going to have to figure out something eventually but not right away. Lance makes us a top-4 team in the East. I think between he, Kemba and Al we have 3 legit big game performers. Our supporting cast is still green but I expect them to improve a ton over the course of the season, because of improved depth and more skilled players logging more minutes. This allows them to stay within themselves and contribute in shorter spurts. This team was always 2 players away from ECF contender. Lance is one. We would need one more. We really have to move Henderson and get Neal off the books and we will be looking great heading into 2015 draft and free agency. We could have Kemba + Lance/Hairston + MKG + Zeller/Vonleh + Jefferson/Biz + a 1st rounder + 9 million in cap space. I'll just feel like we're so much closer with Lance.

the best part is MKG and Vonleh both have the upside to be "that guy"

He'll be huge for them IMO. Desperately needed veteran prescence and floor spacing. Nice signing. Caron's close to home too.

I feel bad for Drummond, such a great young talent but on a team with no direction or leadership. On the bright side maybe he will come to Charlotte when his contract is up and the pistons are still terrible.

We definitely won't be fine if he leaves, but unless his shooting goes well over the 40% mark we probably won't have to worry about it too much as deep as the PG position is. We should be able to keep him easily, especially since he will be a RFA.

So does that mean we will be able to match anything kinda like the Hayward situation? not exactly sure how that RFA works

Almost seems like RFA can come back to bite you in the ass, I dont think the Jazz were planning on paying Hayward over 16M a season. makes it easy for teams to jack up the price and make you overpay if they know you wont let them go

I wouldn't want to pay Kemba more than 10 million per year, we can find another good PG that shoots above 40%

I think the NBA should revisit the old format that penalized teams with a lengthier cap hold for giving a player a offer sheet while being restricted, because 3 days isn't enough if you ask me

This should've been a trade that Cho should've been all over by using Henderson or Neal. Blair would've been the perfect stopgap PF that wouldn't have needed more than 20-25 minutes per game and he would've been very efficient at it

Im gonna call it right now, the Hornets will sign Lance to a 4 year 48M deal tomorrow. I wouldn't be shocked if it happens tonight.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
