That was a fascinating interview with Clifford - talked about the need to diversify the offense and get more contributions from guys not named Al and Kemba, then specifically mentioned the need for Henderson to make a larger contribution offensively. They also talked about the need to get out more in transition.

I'm starting to think this talk of "Al-fense" is an oversimplification of Clifford's offensive philosophy, and that he was more forced into it last year because (a) he was a new coach with new players and (b) there was some institutional pressures to make the playoffs last year instead of being patient with instituting a new system.

Do you think Cho has the ability to line up a Henderson trade?

You don't sign a guy to a three year, $6M per deal and then trade him before his second year. I think it'll be a lot easier to move him next season, and very easy to move him next offseason.

Maybe this talking up of Henderson by Cho + Clifford is a submission of sorts, but also foreshadowing into a pursuit of Lance that is bound to leak. They're ahead of any leak or breaking news. Them saying he's integral to the team is the same as the highly publicized Cliff texts to McRoberts after Vonleh was drafted. It could be Cliff and Cho are priming the media + the Hornets members + Henderson, "Hey look we value your contributions to this team, even though you will be seeing less minutes". If Lance is brought in, there would definitely be friction. Lance is a vocal demonstrative guy and Henderson is very businesslike and established firmly here in the city with the fans and in the clubhouse.

The way he talked about MKG actually makes me extremely excited for him this upcoming season.

I'd Hendo stays here and puts up similar numbers he will probably opt out after this season.

He's not just any 3 year 6 per guy. He's one that doesn't fit our needs. So while you may typically not trade a player so soon into his deal, you might if you have needs to fill.

They attempted to trade him for Afflalo. They were even willing to attach pick 24 in a stacked draft to get it done. And that was their proposal for 1 year guaranteed of Afflalo, possibly no more.

There is no way in hell they wait until the offseason to extend Kemba to unload that contract. Hornetsmania has it right, they will be positioned to move him at the deadline if Hairston comes along.

Rather use that $6M to go after a couple of vets like Nelson and be sure that we have the funds to land Lance. Hendo behind Lance does nothing for us.

Yeah, Clifford even said something along the lines of Henderson breaking out or something this season.

Prepare to be disappointed Clifford.
Um, we've been saying that every year since 2010-11.

Didn't mean that it doesn't make sense to the Hornets - I meant it looks pretty bad to other teams. If you just signed the guy and already are trying to trade him, that's not exactly a ringing endorsement that he is good value at the salary you gave him.

. . . or maybe the reason no one has heard anything about the Hornets pursuing Lance is because they're not interested . . .

OK, I calmed myself down. I'm not ready to kill yet. Lance has not been linked to any team to the point of leaked negotiations or even a tour of any city.

Lance has been this off seasons wild-card, international man of mystery.

Nobody's heard anything about Lance and anyone. Other than baseless speculation, we haven't heard a shred of news about Lance meeting with anyone, other than the Pacers who low-balled the hell out of him. He's riding out the storm and seeing which teams are desperate to get him.

With Cho and Clifford in Vegas, that is extremely unlikely.
