Drummond makes 19 man Team USA roster for Vegas camp

The USMNT has been cut to the preliminary 19 man training camp roster for the Vegas training camp in preparation of this year's world cup. Players chosen are:

Andre Drummond
Kevin Durant
Kevin Love
Derrick Rose
Steph Curry
James Harden
Anthony Davis
Chandler Parsons
DeMar DeRozen
Klay Thompson
Kyrie Irving
Blake Griffin
DeMarcus Cousins
Damian Lilliard
Paul George
Gordon Hayward
Kenneth Faried
Kyle Korver
Bradley Beal

12 guys will be picked for the final roster.

Drummond needs to be the coolest mother f*cker playing with these guys. Summer 2016 is coming soon and this to me is the first step in recruiting one of those guys to come here lol

The thought I've most often heard about who makes the team is that it'll be either Drummond or Cousins, not both.

I think Drummond is going to get that slot. He's a great kid, and the coaches have noticed and have had (IMO, based on what I've read and what I saw via body language watching the scrimmages last summer) problems with Cousins. Also, Drummond is a low usage player, and as a high energy rebounder, he'd probably meld better into a team with superstar scorers. Finally, I think most people would see Drummond as the guy Team USA would want to develop in the international game, looking at creating him as the team's center for 2016 and 2020 and even through 2024.

Euro BB is more physical than NBA ball. You need a moose like Drummond to control and dominate Euro centers and big men.

He and Anthony Davis would be the perfect PF/C duo on any team.

That's my 12. I think it is an absolute joke that Rose is even considering playing since he's missed the last 2 years. He truly is mentally slow.

I really doubt that Rose will be doing international competition ever based on his knees. As much as I think he's overrated, Irving will probably take his place.

Call me selfish,but I dont want dre playing just for the fact he could get an injury befor the NBA season.I know its a good thing for him.

I can't believe Wall was left off for Kyrie. I guess Coach K probably has something to do with it. The more Kyrie I watch, the less impressed I am.

So glad he fell to us in the draft, best move we have made in years in picking him up. We can't let him go no matter what, let's just hope he's not the kind of player that just wants to immediately go and chase rings after a couple season aka Lebron.

I think Dre has a good shot of making it. Faried/Cousins will likely end up being cut, leaving Love/Davis/Dre/Griffin to share minutes at 4/5.

... davis is a PF but I see a lot of people listing him as a center.

that being said the only 'true' centers left on the last 19 are cousins and Drummond and they might not want to roll with both of them.

Blake Griffin has pulled himself out. Good news for Dre one would have to assume. One less big to have to compete against, even if one is a PF and the other a Ce.

Agreed its definitely good news for Dre... They will most likely cut just one of Dre, Cousins, or Faried IMO. Dre now has a much better shot of making it.

For me at least he's sort of in the same vein as Carmelo Anthony. He's a bit of a volume shooter. I'm not impressed with Melo and don't really see him as the guy you build around to win a championship.

However, in Kyrie's case it's a little different since LeBron is coming in. He might be great in the Robin role to LeBron's Batman. But Kyrie's getting paid like Batman...
