What about this; Josh Smith/Gigi Datome to Phoenix for Gerald Green/TPE. Phoenix needs an athletic shotblocking big and we get a shooter. Granted, Smith is easily a much better talent but this trade gives us another shooter to spread the floor for Monroe/Drummond even though it does leave us really thin at PF.

Jennings/Augustin/Dinwiddie
KCP/Meeks/Martin
Green/Singler/Butler
Monroe/Jerebko/Mitchell
Drummond/Monroe/Gray

I like it. Especially since Singler can play the small ball 4.

Green's no SF.

He can play spot minutes there, but not long stretches by any means.

we have 16 players now.

so if we can turn Smoove and Tony Mitchell into one emergency center, that would be nice.

maybe Clint Capela. (Unless Houston already signed his deal.)

That would give
1. upside
2. Aaron Gray wouldn't be the only option in the reserves
3. get rid of 2 worthless players
4. stretch-4's (JJ, Singler, Datome) backing up pf (not just because SVG/Drumm. every team should try.)

In the case of Houston, who actually can absorb Smoove's salary, I'm willing to throw 2nd's into such a deal, but you never know how value will be determined in the trades made by real gms.

Wondering if anyone thinks this is an option. Let's say the Cavs lose out on the Kevin Love sweepstakes. Would they be willing to do something like this?

Monroe+Bynum for Varejao+Bennett

Not sure i like the value, but I don't know what they would think about giving up on Bennett. Seems like a bust, but he was a #1. Just thinking maybe we could actually get a "project stud" out of the Monroe deal. Still don't know if Bennett is a 3 or a 4 (hoping a 3).

They do get a serviceable backup for irving as well as Monroe at hopefully around 12.

Thoughts?

I'd want one of Cleveland's first rounders as well (have it being the lowest of their 2015's) and we'd definitely need to spin off Waiters for a SF. But I'd probably do it - I think Bennett is going to be good with confidence and some lost weight.

Seems like Bennett could be a "buy low" opportunity, but Cleveland isn't making a trade with anyone until Kevin Love situation is resolved. I'm pretty sure he is going to end up in Cleveland. We could possibly get involved in a 3 way and give Josh to Minnesota as Love goes to Cleveland. Maybe Bennett to us, Wiggens to Minnesota, a few other players added to balance things.

Oklahoma City have any interest in Monroe? They have Perkins to make any salary matching work, so something like Perkins + Reggie Jackson + First Rounder for Monroe and Bynum?

That first rounder is going to be a 28th or later pick. Perkins is awful. So Reggie Jackson for Monroe doesn't seem like it'd be worth it. They can keep the pick and throw in 1 or 2 of Perry Jones/McGary/Lamb/or one of their other younger guys.

That'd be an option, but we're already 1 player over the roster limit. That would put us 2 over. Unless Perkins is willing to accept a ridiculous buyout that Gores would actually be willing to pay, with our roster situation, we might be stuck. I suppose tossing in Mitchell/Datome is always possible.

Maybe we throw in Datome and Mitchell just because.

Monroe/Bynum/Datome/Mitchell

for

Perkins, Jackson, PJ3, pick
