Nope

I see them doing all of these cost cutting moves and I can't help but to think that they are up to something bigger than it appear. I was just asking.

May have already been said, but they are trying to clear more room so that they can sign that Mirotic guy

Chicago is on record as not going to amnesty Boozer.

Reinsdorf don't be burning no money like that.

Where is that record? Link?

I remember reading that they will amnesty Boozer if they can't trade him like last week.

I also just can't believe the cheapest owner in the NBA is going to pay Boozer 16.8m to go away.

They disputed they would amnesty Boozer when the initial rumours came out.

They may do, just don't be surprised if they don't.

They've already signed Gasol though, so no need to make room for someone that you've already signed. They've been back and forth on amnestying for what seems like eternity, but as of now they have no plans to amnesty him.

Well at least they're trying to do something unlike our front office. This has been one of the most frustrating off seasons that I can remember

they're doing all of this for Pau and Mirotic. They didn't have any cap space before. Boozer getting amnestied is the only way for them to get the $13M or so in cap space they needed to sign Pau and Mirotic. Once they sign, they're right at the cap again.

Oh okay. The more I think about it that make sense. Mirotic did get a hefty little deal. They'll prolly add somebody like Stuckey on the low to fill out their roster tho.

we still have to spend like 7 million to get to the salary floor right? i don't really see anyone out there that is worthy of Marvelous Marvin money that we would be interested in besides Lance

Us, Atlanta, and Phoenix are the only teams worth a crap, with $11M or more that can be used on Lance. Houston is close, but they spent a ton on Ariza and still have several holes in their roster. As it stands right now, the only destinations are Indiana, Charlotte, Atlanta, Phoenix, potentially Houston, and Philadelphia. Utah has enough if they deplete their UNG contract-laden bench. Miami is only in the running if Wade leaves or takes a ridiculous pay cut. Haven't heard a word about Atlanta all summer other than the fact they were kinda interested in Deng. Indiana would have to deplete their bench to keep him and they'd still be riding the luxury tax line with a roster of 11 or 12. Phoenix may not have enough if they match a max contract on Bledsoe (and in that scenario, their backcourt is crowded enough with Dragic, Thomas, and Bledsoe). Philly is roster-tanking like I've never seen before, and I don't know if Stephenson and Utah are a match. Houston kind of scares me a bit. I feel like Morey's going to pull something off to replace Parsons with another young stud, but if they decide they'd rather have depth, it's likely a two-horse race with us and the Pacers as front-runners. ATL probably jumps in, but the way things are going, I think we'll get Lance for under $13M.

What I would do to dissuade the Pacers from out-bidding us is to front-load the contract as much as we're allowed (4.5% per year). Lance LOL'ed at their offer because it paid like 7.5M in the first year or something. Lance has been getting paid less than a million a year for the last four, he's probably looking for an immediate payday. Offer him 4/45 and make it break down like this: 12 / 11.5 / 11 / 10.5. The Pacers would have to clear way too much salary to avoid the tax and we get a bargain contract for the future while still paying Lance an average of over $11M per year.

I can't see Phoenix signing him. They have enough guards as it is, unless they plan on letting Bledsoe go.

Salary floor means nothing. If a team fails to meet it they just have to pay their guys currently under contract at the end of the year a bonus payment enough to meet it.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

If we had no means to reach the salary floor, there's always the option of picking up an extra asset for a bad expiring like Bargnani. Neal and JT for Bargnani and Hardaway? :D

I doubt they part with Hardaway, but if not Lance, I'd go the salary dump route.

a sign and trade of Stephenson for Bledsoe seems to make sense for both sides.

On paper, maybe. But I just couldn't see Hornacek putting up with Lance. Things would go bad quickly IMHO.
