not true in the least. as of now, we have 3 guys in our starting 5 that can create their own offense (kobe, lin, and randle). Managements next step is to fill out the rest of the starting 5 with defensive minded players; a 3&D wing that can defend sf's and sg's and a shot blocking/altering big. Add a coach with team oriented defensive schemes, and fill out the last few spots on the bench. (as of now, marshall - yuck-, clarkson, young, hill - unless he starts, sacre) and that team can compete for a low end playoff spot this season.

with all that in mind, id like to see the lakers go after wes again. put him in the starting line up as the 4th or 5th option, and have him bleed defense. he was underwhelming at times last year, but ive always felt that if you a pair him up with kobe, he can accomplish something productive.

They will compete for the 8th seed all season, meaning within about 4 or 5 games back at any one point throughout the season. It is not a playoff team.

Kobe hasn't played in a year, Randle is a rookie, and Lin is... well he is average.

Lin was overrated in NY. He was average in Houston, who know what he will be here with less talent around him. Kobe will fall apart if he has to shoot 30 times a night.

Grab Boozer when amnestied, resign X (SF) & pick up Stuckey (Kobe slides to SF)... Lineup is as follows for next season:

PG: Lin, Marshall & Nash
SG: Stuckey & Clarkeson (18.5 PPG in Vegas)
SF: Kobe, Young & X
PF: Boozer, Randle & Kelly
C: Hill & Sacre

I had read something like the Lakers can't claim Boozer off of waivers, because we're not under the cap...but that was assuming they had signed Young & Hill officially--which we haven't, right?

Even if Boozer has a ton left in the tank he's exclusively a PF so you'd either pay him to ride pine or deprive Randle of min.

I like Aminu, he's 23 and can rebound with decent defense. Also Andray Blatche and Ryan Hollins

I mean, he didnt want to play for the other teams, I think he has set his heart in LA, where he started and would play here. Though mentality needs sort of a reconfigure, but we need a damn big, other than Hill & Sacre.

Bynum has no knees.

why not try the Orthokine Kobe Treatment on him? But I guess Okafor would be a better option, just another defensive big down low will help against Bigger PFs & Cs

He had the treatment already, his knees are done. Its a combination of knees that are non-existent and extra weight gain. Unless he was dedicated to swimming until he lost all that extra weight I see no hope for him and he hasn't done anything over his last 4 teams to lose the weight that is burdening his knees. He honestly can't be the big strong guy he was before - its now an issue of all that weight on his knees.

I believe the impact of jumping up and down or sprinting is 1.5-3x your actual weight - impacting knees that are gone. Treatment can only go so far, Bynum isn't in the same shape as he was during his championship years. At best you could have him play 10-15 minutes a game. If you are lucky and hope to get him for maybe 50+ games.... MAYBE.. But he isn't worth the roster spot.

I think this is about right if we're optimistic about Kobe (big ?), Randle (has to exceed rookie expectations), & Lin (expecting what he has shown in the past). 50 wins in the west takes more than just talent but consistency. A little much to expect from this roster imo.

Woj reporting Lakers signed Ed Davis. Finally something that makes sense.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
