My Top 10 Ernie Blunders

Post#1 » by Jay81 » Tue Jul 15, 2014 5:45 pm

what are yours?

1. Trading our first pick in the 2009 draft for Foye and Miller
2. Drafting Jan Vesley
3. Signing a broken Gilbert to a max deal
4. Drafting Oleksiy Pecherov
5. Signing Martell Webster to that deal
6. Andray Blatche contract(at the time…I didn’t think it was a horrible move)
7. The rest of the draft picks in the 2011 draft
8. Signing Eric maynor on the first day of free agency
9. Selling our pick instead of picking Blair
10. I am going to get killed for this but trading our 1st rounder and Okafor for Gortat. In the end, Gortat cost us 60 million dollars and a 1st round pick in a deep draft for a pretty good but not elite center

IBTL, but can't believe you forgot the lovable Vladimir Veremeenko and Tomas Satoransky!

They deserve honorable mention...

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Dumping Kendall Marshall and Shelvin Mack for nothing.

Offering Nick Young an MLE contract.

Getting nothing in return for Jordan Crawford.

Trading for Nene.

Peter John Ramos.

Selling a 2nd rounder for cash to fund the front office's lavish trip to Poland to pay Gortat 60 million.

I'd move the Blatche move up... especially considering Ernie knew the type of guy he was extending. Ted is still paying on that extension.

You also got to throw in the Critt deal. The fact we gave up a 1st round pick for a future murderer is pretty laughable.

For the 100th time, the max Gil contract wasn't Ernie's choice. I have insider intel on this (no joke).

To be honest, Kendall Marshall is garbage. He was bad backup on a bad team with inflated numbers running a system that's PG friendly. I think he's a 3rd stringer at best and frankly doesn't defend the position at an acceptable level.

Drafting Singleton and Vesley in the same draft over Kawhi Leonard and Kenneth Faried.

Shh! Don't tell Riles that. Let him do it...

Honorable mention: Utah GM blowing his wad on Booker T and Gordon Hayward (max contract???)

there has been some terrible GMing this offseason. Not only Ernie. paying Carmelo the Max. How is Miami going to look when Wade rests 30 games so he can be fresh for the playoffs and then they dont make the playoffs. The Miami Gming is mindboggling. Ernie might win Gm of the year LOL

The early second round pick in this draft would have been nice.

Now THAT one is on Abe. I think that was the one move were it was actually reported that Abe had influence in closing a deal.

This is how I would rank the ones that haven't been mentioned

1. Trading for Javaris Crittenton
2. Hiring Flip Saunders
3. Choosing not to re-sign James Singleton
4. Choosing not re-sign Steve Blake
5. Fabricio Oberto signing
