Team Canada Commitments

Post#1 » by strudel forever » Tue Jul 15, 2014 8:12 pm

Canadian here. Given that the Cavs have 4 young canadians on the roster, are you guys in favour of Wiggins and company participating in international competitions beginning this summer and going forward?

Seems like a bit of a risk given that these guys make up almost a third of the team, though it could be great for their development.

I could see a situation where the Cavs don't let Bennett or Wiggins go, Going to take a while to learn blatts system and Wiggins needs a lot of work with the team and specialist. Powell probably gets cut so it doesn't matter if he goes. Who's the 4th?

As long as the Candian team will insure their contracts, I didn't think the Cavaliers had a choice; but I thought Canada failed to qualify for the FIBA World Cup? What exactly is lined up?

Tristan Thompson. Lebron could end up being Team Canada's biggest asset as he hones these guys :)

I know that Tristan and LeBron are good friends, so I'm sure that he told Gilbert that Thompson doesn't get traded.

Dwight Powell is also from Toronto although I am not sure he will make your team.

Thompson is more likely to get traded then Bennett, unless its for Love.

Not sure we can find any suitors???

Bennett is more likely IMO, along with a couple other contracts to get a guy like Love.

I'm in favor of it. It can only help.

It would be different if we weren't sending 3 or 4 all at the same time. Sending them all to Team Canada to play together, however, will help build their chemistry in an organized system away from the LeBron/Kyrie hype.
