Hawks acquire Giorgos Printezis in Trade with OKC

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Wed Jul 16, 2014 2:07 am

The Hawks and Thunder are working on a sign-and-trade that would send Sefolosha to Atlanta but allow the Thunder to reap a trade exception...The Thunder will receive the rights to draft-and-stash prospect Sofoklis Schortsanitis, while Atlanta gets Sefolosha, the rights to fellow draft-and-stash prospect Giorgos Printezis, and cash.

Never heard of him. SF drafted in 2008. He's already 29 years old. NOT a good 3-pt shooter. Avg 10 ppg 3 rpg for the greek league.http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Giorgos-Printezis-1295/

NBADraft.net scouting report:

Strengths: Small forward who plays with great energy and hustle ...Solid athlete, with good size to play the 3 ... Very strong one on one player considering he's European

Seems like there isn't much benefit here other than some goodwill in hooking OKC up with the trade exception...

Posted this in the Thabo thread, but you have to understand what happened here. The League Office is cracking down on trades where a team simply gets assets to take on salary. Whereas OKC didn't have to give up a player (since they are technically giving up Thabo), my guess is that we still wanted a player to fill in for the "overseas guy who'll never make the NBA but fills the minimum requirement to deal out in a trade down the line" category.
