did you really just post your facebook page?

this reminds me of the thread of that suns fan who posted pictures of his walls with suns posters on it, only to continue to post pics about himself and his (pretty hot) girlfriend.

Do you even have a girlfriend? If yes, prove it.

I like Bill Simmons, I like the new ESPN NBA crew of Steele, Collins, Rose & Simmons. I however, do not like this NBA tournament idea. The NBA needs to move the season from 82 games to 76 games, you play your division 4 times, the other two divisions in your conference 3 times and the other three divisions in the separate conference 2 times.

It slightly helps prevent tanking with teams and it adds a little spice to division games giving them something worth a little bit more to play for. But for Adam Silver to want to do something like this because of what he sees in Soccer is silly. Soccer's system in Europe works for them, while the NBA just needs a few tweaks to their system.

It's funny because Bill Simmons is a scrawny old white dude. It's called satire.

The tournament idea intrigues me, does he go into detail about it?

What the hell is a midseason tournament?

And before some tool says "it's a tournament that takes place midseason" what is the format/point of it?

Heard talk about a tournament that if you won you could pick a playoff series and get an extra home game in that series. For example if Pacers won the tournament at mid season they could pick to have 5 home games in the ECF.

Thanks for the laughs TommyTBolt. You are truly hilarious. I hope that one day you get to fight Bill Simmons on TV, with Mark Levin & Sarah Palin in your corner.

The mid-season tournament was proposed by Shane Battier years ago.

I also didn't quite understand the replay booth. The only difference is that there will be an independent booth to cue up the replay faster?

The benefit of a tournament is not to copy soccer per se, but to introduce more unpredictability and therefore fun into seeding/playoffs.

As it is now, due to seeding rules and 7-game series, usually the best team wins. While that rewards merit, it's also much too predictable.

A tournament would increase viewership, and for good reasons: fanbases that otherwise could not realistically expect to get anywhere can feed off the hope that they can pull out an upset in a sudden-death scenario. Especially fanbases of treadmill teams -- suddenly something to cheer for.

This is officially one of the weirdest threads I've read in a while. If you read posts in this thread without reading the title or OP carefully.. you've got guys talking about sports articles, beating people up, some kind of tournament, a replay system, Obama, espn misogyny, and a direct link to someone's Facebook proving how he would be able to take Bill Simmons in a fight.
