Bruno definitely has the "it" factor that stars have. You can tell by the way he dribbles the ball in isolation and pulls up for jump-shots. Even just watching him out there, he commands part of your attention.

That being said, he's still pretty raw. He doesn't drive very well and he's making the types of mistakes you'd expect an 18 year old player to make (fouls and turnovers).

He definitely has the potential to be pretty good though.

here's a game where giannis played point guard exclusively.....

that's a huge difference, giannis played PG in europe and now with a hall of game PG as a coach, he's going to flourish now....

Giannis upside is way higher but Bruno is still a good pick. I find it interesting that Jason Kidd seems more invested in getting the most out of Giannis versus Jabari Parker

Holy hell this kid's going to be a star. I can't even fathom how good he'll be if he picks up the point guard position. Milwaukee might actually have a shot at the playoffs if Jabari produces right away and Larry Sanders keeps his head screwed on. Their future is neon bright either way.

ya, apparently ppl are saying Giannis is like T-MAC but just more talented physically, and a hard-worker...he's gonna be a star

Bruno - well i'm hoping he becomes like a good 3 and D guy who can hit open shots, grab rebounds and guard bigger SFs

This is exactly what I wanted to hear. With his talent, if he becomes a gym rat who outworks everyone else, he will be a potential beast. The kid is putting in extra work and Casey is actually directly involved. He always talks about being a defensive coach and now he has his first truly elite defensive prospect. Time to show what you can really do Casey.

I've mentioned it before but this is really a test for the Raptors coaching staff. If the Raptors continue to be successful developing late picks will be crucial to sustained success. They will learn a lot from working with a high potential player since he essentially has no other coaching influence and good and bad coaching will be demonstrated.

From Raptors Today, Machado was doing the translating and he said Bruno was pist because he was providing a lot of help defence and his team mates weren't pulling their weight on the defensive end.

So looks like that and him getting posterized got him emotional.

Did the Raptors hire Roy Rana as an assistant coach, or is he just helping out?

By then he should be on the same footing as the other prospects coming into summer league and by then he should be a focal point of the team too .

Um . What

Pretty straight forward . Don't judge him like everyone else here , he has too little experience and is too young . Wait til next year .

And he didn't get dunked over and he didn't mis-time it either. He just had his hand in the wrong place to block it.

CANCER!!! TRADE HIM!!!

Seriously though, the kid has balls if he's telling Machado - his teammate who played like manure - that to translate. My man don't take no ****. Let's hope he can take it like he's dishing it.

lol. Giannis running PG on any team is turnover mania lol. Do it Kidd. Make Giannis run PG full time in the NBA. That's losing basketball.

That being said. I think Giannis is a better overall Prospect than Parker and a lot of the players in this draft.
Great prospect the Bucks have.

Your second question seems to have been answered. Majority seem to be of the opinion that it was not a mistake to bring him to surround him by NBA level development staff in NBA level facilities.

Your first question remains unanswered... are there examples of such raw rookies being drafted and given a roster spot to develop as the 14/15th man? How successful were teams at developing those players? Hoping someone answers this.

With 4 pages and no example I think there are no examples of this.

A poster mentioned Amir Johnson. Pretty good example I think

Jermaine O'Neal is another one. Played only 45 games & 10mpg during those 45 games.

Lou Williams only averaged 4.8min in only 30 games. Drafted out of HS

Gerald Green - 11 minutes in 32 games. He had a pretty good season for Phoenix last year (16ppg in 28 min). I think Bruno is more skilled than Gerald was coming into the league though. I think he is much more mature as well. Green's maturity level really held him back.

Right now Bruno's 2 biggest problems are:

1. Language
2. Strength/ weight

Once we see the 2 issues above resolved, I think we see Bruno's development accelerate quickly. Those 2 issues have to be resolved before he can move forward.

I can't think of any successful players as young as Bruno is who were drafted at 18 years old, couldn't speak English & needed some major work on his body.

Bruno definitely has some big time obstacles to overcome, but I think he can do it. Just gonna take time.

Oh my god... suddenly I'm fearing the deer. Giannis is starting to look like a star.
