Kyrie Irving Trade Value

Post#1 » by zeir » Wed Jul 16, 2014 3:35 pm

First time posting sorry if it's in the wrong location.

Was just wondering what everyone thinks the trade value of Kyrie is? A lot of talk of trading for Love and all for Wiggins, Waiters etc. but personally, I don't like Kyrie's game too much, great offensive ISO player but defensively weak and seems injury prone.

How would Cavs fans feel of trading Kyrie, and what would you expect in return?

He's pretty much untradeable at present. Currently his max contract over values him a bit which doesn't help.

People I'd trade Kyrie for straight up:

Kevin Durant
Chris Paul
Steph Curry
MAYBE LaMarcus Aldridge

That's it...

Pretty Similiar list for me

Maybe

Steph Curry
Chris Paul (age is a factor)
James Harden
Kawii Leonard

Fair question but it's entirely academic. He just committed for the long haul. Cavs won't consider trading him.

Rubio and Love for Kyire and TT + filler is about the only trade I'd consider at this point.

Nobody is untradeable, but I wouldn't trade him now until we see how he works with LeBron and I wouldn't trade him for Love.

Pelicans never do that though. You don't trade big for small.

I like Kyrie but it's interesting to reflect on how his status has changed. A year ago the team revolved around him and every move was prefaced with fans asking what Kyrie thought about it. Now it's possible the he starts the season as the 3rd best and possibly even 4th best player on the team. Funny how nobody is terribly concerned about what he thinks anymore.

Please change your name. Not only is it idiotic because we didn't 3peat but because you are now suddenly a fan of all Cleveland sports.

As far your topic, none of those teams would trade the players you listed for Kyrie.

Of course they wouldn't, but this thread isn't about if they would, it's about if we would.

Although I could see Clippers maybe just maybe slightly doing cp3 for kyrie, as cp3 is now 29.

I meant lebron included. Kyrie of course doesn't have half the worth of Davis

That's just ridiculous then. AD had a great season & looks to be future multi mvp winner, will have an amazing year, LeBron is pretty much a lock for next year's MVP & has at least 2 years left in his absolute prime. AD might be the guy who overtakes LeBron for #1 in 3-4 years though.

But I wouldn't do that trade.

First off there pal I cannot change my name. Secondly, I know you didn't 3 Peat that's why AS A CAVS FAN I find it hilarious. Why else do you think I made it? I've always been a Cleveland sports fan.

You were on the Heat forum with a Heat logo on the left. You are a Lebron homer, and that's fine - I truly do not care. But lets not pretend, shall we? What I do care about though, is the "heat" word in your name. And by change I mean DELETE and make a new one that suits you more as a loyal Cavs fan :)

He's probably got low value as his context overvalues him at present but he could be traded to a number of teams.

As for Anyhony Davis, he'll be the best player in the nba in a few years.

These are players which I think would have more trade value than Irving. Not which players would fit best on the Cavs. The list in the east is pretty short.

East:
Lebron James
Andrew Wiggins
Andre Drummond
John Wall
Joakim Noah
Paul George
Demar Derozan ( a stretch, but at less than $10M a season, he's being paid like a good starter, not an all-star)
Jabari Parker

West:
James Harden
Russell Westbrook
Kevin Durant
Kevin Love
Kawahi Leonard
Stephen Curry ( amazing contract )
Anthony Davis
Chris Paul
Blake Griffin
Demarcus Cousins
LaMarcus Aldridge

Dirk is also a steal at 8M per year. And pg is the most loaded position in the league.
