If Payton progresses like he did over the Summer League games and he gets his turnovers down I wouldn't be surprised to see him start after the All-Star break. It's pretty apparent the offense works better through him than Oladipo.

PG - Payton, Oladipo, Ridnour
SG - Oladipo, not sure between Fournier and Gordon, Green
SF - Harris, Harkless
PF - Frye, Gordon, Nicholson
C - Vucevic, O'Quinn, Dedmon

Ridnour is a move to solidify PG at the beginning, but depending on how Oladipo and Payton look in the back court together, he'll be phased out. We're in desperate need for a vet PG. Payton is our only legit PG. Oladipo at PG is such a forced move. I've seen ppl talking about Fournier at PG, but I don't see it from the clips I've watched of him. Ridnour fits the bill. We're not contenders. We just need someone who can start if needed but also won't steal playing time from the young guys.

I'm Okay with Ridnour on this team, solid signing here.

I'm OK with Ridnour...he'll sit the bench mostly and is cheap.

You guys are getting way too upset about a guy who is on a 1 year deal. My god.

You don't know how much of a cancer Ben will be on this team yet do you. Some people will just have to learn the hard way.

But BBD wasnt a cancer??? LOL BMP i think you are blinded by the fact that he got overpaid and couldnt live up to the deal. I actually think he will be great in THIS locker room
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

He'll probably start and then when Payton's ready move to a backup role. Which is perfect for him.

He's a pass first guy who can also hit from long range. Solid vet, solid guy, solid signing for us. A better pick up for that last spot than another young guy.

i see no reason why we let go of jameer on a 1 year deal to sign this guy

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Yes, because that was the thought that went into this signing.

Of the 4 guys we signed (Gordon, Green, Frye, Ridnour), I wanted Fyre and Ridnour. So I love this signing. The only other player I wanted was Livingston. But Ridnour was the guy I wanted after him.

How many times does it have to be said that Jameer wanted out and we wanted to start the young guys?

I love Jameer, he will forever be one of my favorite players. But, I just don't understand why people keep bringing his up name after every signing.

Fournier was acquired in a trade and is thus not a FA upgrade.

I do agree that he replaces Afflalo's roster slot. With Harkless.

I'm not sure "wanted out" is the right term for what happened. I think the idea of the franchise and Jameer's visions for what their roles would be in the upcoming season no longer aligned.

I also think that the money saved was a big factor for the franchise. They wanted a true "backup" pg, and that's just not what Jameer was prepared to be.

So far I've heard Gordon, ridnour and Frye are gonna start.. I don't think people understand what we're doing with them. Frye is the only one that will probably start.

I still think O'Quinn might start at the 4, it's his contract year and I'm sure the Magic want to see exactly what he can do. The same for Vuc and Harris, I expect them all to get big minutes.

CBSSports saying the deal is 2 yrs $5.5 mill. I really like this pickup, I'm sure he won't get much playing time, but he'll be a great mentor to Oladipo and Payton. I wanted to get Luke a few yrs ago to be the primary backup to Jameer.

I agree, I don't see A Gordon or Ridnour starting. This is our most likely starting 5,

Oladipo
Fournier
Harris
Frye
Vuc

I think that will be our lineup as well. I hope Payton can win the starting job by the All Star break though.
