The Omer Asik appreciation thread

Post#1 » by baki » Thu Jul 17, 2014 9:14 am

Since mods may be closing up the other appreciation thread, here's one for Asik, the forgotten man at Houston.

Let's give it up for Omer Asik!

Image
Omer was the quiet but hardworking young man making the most of his opportunities and did it well.

Image
He came to Houston hoping to work with one of the best big man in the game...

Image
When that didn't happen he did what he did best, play defense and rebound.

Image
Then there was the benching and bad days since the arrival of Howard.

Image
We'll never forget how dude bled for us.

Image
Or his deadringing ways.

Image
He had a ball and so did we.

Image

Take care Mr.Asik.

He and Anthony Davis are gonna kick our ass I can just feel it.
Morey really needs to stop calling the NOP pick a "guaranteed lottery pick"
If Holiday and Anderson are healthy this year I can see them being in the hunt.

Best moment: Making Scott Brooks seem stupid for Hack-a-Asik
Worst moment: demanding a trade and being "unavailable" to play.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

EASILY my favorite rocket of the last two years, even In spite of not playing much this last year and having demanded a trade.

Just a big freaking mountain of heart and hustle.

Agree with this post 100%. I'll miss the big man throwing it down.

Asik (just like most defensive big men) was criminally underrated by fans in terms of his game impact-to-popularity ratio, but I really lost a lot of respect for him with his whole "pouting on the sidelines" fiasco last season. I understood where he was coming from but that was just very unprofessional.

Asik/Davis > Asik/Howard?

Davis is a 79% FT shooter and can guard PF's better than Howard.

Gotta agree. I'd take Davis over Howard right now any day.

Maybe against 2007 Dwight not so much, but even then I think Davis pairs better with Asik.
Did Orlando run Howard/Gortat very much? I wouldn't imagine so.

Davis is a superstar level talent. Better than Dwight. Can defend 3 positions

Asik/Davis > Asik/Howard?

Davis is a 79% FT shooter and can guard PF's better than Howard.

Good, I wanted a confirmation that Howard was the problem.

"Davis/Asik > Howard/Asik" (which is correct) does not mean "Howard is the problem" but rather is going to mean either "Anthony Davis is better than Howard right now" or "Anthony Davis pairs better with Asik than Howard does".

How in the world do you get a "Howard is the problem" out of that?

...well is Howard a problem?

I know Davis is improving and will overtake a declining Howard, plus he'll probably be better to work with. I like the combo of Asik/Davis.

While Howard needs another superstar player that has to be better than him but not more expensive

Oh no it's Aaron Brooks, back for thirds I presume?

Was my favorite until he choose to sit out two games. Don't care much for the trade demand he should be a starter
