*SAC and DET send a flurry of 2nd rounders to PHI.

why for us?
-we land the perfect combo forward to play behind drumroe. thaddeus young is essentially the anti-smith. he knows his limitations and plays strictly to his strengths. he can effectively defend the 3 and 4. we could buy out jet and j-rich, unless gores decides he wants to see an old man 360 dunk.

why for SAC?
-they get their athletic shot blocking PF that they've been looking to pair with boogie. also, bynum gives them a decent backup PG to push raymac. they literally take on the exact amount of salary they send out, so that could definitely be appealing to them.

why for PHI?
-okay, this one's a stretch, i know, but philly has very little depth up front. noel will be ready this year, but he did just miss all of last season with a serious injury. thompson would give them a very solid big to use as injury insurance or in the starting lineup if they so choose. hinkie is already known for stockpiling as much young talent as possible, so mitchell and williams would probably intrigue him a bit. lastly, they want to suck. there's no better way to do that than to trade your best player and hand the keys to the kids.

Seems too big to be realistic but I like the players that coming to the Pistons in the trade.

Probably should add more players to this, but this gets us a SF, and also gets Minny a PF to replace Love.

I would do this trade. Interesting if New York would add another year of Lee's salary to their cap.

While I would love Draymond and a controllable/benchable Bargs in that trade, I think GSW will say no. They want PF shooting, which is why they covet Love so much right now at that position. Lee is a poor man's version of Love minus the 3 ball since he can stretch the floor a bit too. And they have decent interior defense in Bogut already, I doubt they want to clog it up with a non-shooter/uncontrollable Smith.

i think a splash bros + barnes combo on the perimeter would be a godsend for smith's shot selection and efficiency. kerr would be able to hold smith accountable as well, as he would have a distinct role forcing the defense to collapse and either finishing in the paint or finding the open shooter. add the fact that he's been a plus defender his whole career, and i really believe GS to be the absolute best fit for smoove right now, but you're right, they probably don't feel the same way, especially after seeing last year's smennings trainwreck.

No, in a lot of ways, you make valid points too. David Lee was atrocious in defense as always and they as a team had to mask him in a lot of ways to make sure he didn't get abused daily. By having Smith there, they eliminate the need to rely so much on their centers like Bogut and as a result, may even be more healthy.

Trust me, I would love your scenario to happen. I'd call that a A-.

In the case that Detroit cannot offload smith, would you guys consider a package around wiggins for Drummond?

In terms of upside and ceiling they're similar, great on D but very raw on offensive. Drummond has the obvious edge as he already has two seasons of development and production at the NBA level. Plus there's a premium price on big men.

Detroit get the sf they need and can shift smith to the four and re-sign Monroe while Cleveland get some desperately needed rim protection and low post scoring.

Because no team in their right mind would give up anything worthwhile for him and if the Smith situation is any indicator Detroit's front office doesn't have any interest in dumping guys just to get rid of them. I actually think he'd fit reasonably well in Dallas though with Carlisle coaching and Ellis, Parsons, Nowitzki, and Chandler as the starters around him.

Jennings/Ellis didnt work out too well for Milwaukee, I can't see it working in Dallas but Id want him moved if we could get Wright/Felton/picks. Augustin could be our starter.
