Player who will benefit most from SVG?

Assuming no more major moves, which player will benefit most from SVG's coaching?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Drummond, no doubt. The last coaching staff's were basically oblivious to what they were dealing with, SVG has come out and basically said he will get Drummond the ball a lot. The way he showed flashes at the end of last season gets me excited now. SVG will put him in a position to succeed, score, and have all the opportunities to become the best big man in the league.

Could have said Smith or Jennings as well :?

I'm going out side the box and saying Jennings. He was decidedly different under two coaches last season, so coaching matters with him. There's was a pretty large gap between his perceived talent and his performance last season. I'm really interested to see how SVG uses him, and particularly what he does to improve/mask him on the defensive end. There's a possibility be becomes a sixth man, and that would be a positive.

His ego will never let that happen for at least another 4 years. If you don't believe in him as a starter you get rid of him.

If I could dump Jennings in the right deal, I would. He has been a major disappointment and makes too much money. But if he's with the team next season, the best solution is changing his role.

I vote jennings. The young guys are all going to improve whether SVG was here or not. Jennings needs a solid coach to have any chance of improving.

I realize most of the jennings haters never make valid points lol "major disappointment" "makes too much money" the guy had 2 coaches in one season and he improved with cheeks lol. If you don't know what you are saying please don't say it

For me, i'm looking at the players who have natural ability but don't quite have the smarts. so jennings and Smith it is.
Drummond, of course, will be great regardless of the coach. He looked great for our previous coaches who were all useless. Monroe is in the same boat. KCP is a hard working kid, so he'll also seem to thrive in most systems.

I voted for Jennings, but it could have been Smith. Both guys are naturally talented, but need guidance.
If Jennings can buy into SVG system, then i could see him doing very well next year.

Who will benefit the most? I'd guess the big guy SVG is building everything around.

Drummond of course, SVG wouldnt have signed here if it wasnt for Drummond and I dont think we would have pursued SVG if we didnt have Drummond so this situation is ideal for the both of them

I truly hope you're right, I had such high hopes for Smith and Jennings and wish SVG could do something to salvage these signings.

I did vote Smith, for the exact reasons you've listed above. I'm very excited to see how this team looks as next season progresses.

Everyone. They'll all develop habits to play better defense. The roster changes will definitely benefit Drummond from an offensive standpoint, but improvement starts defensively, and that's an area everyone will improve for sure.

Everyone equally.

Dre was already on a great projection from the get-go, regardless of where he was at. Sure SVG may speed things up a bit, but I think it would've happened regardless.

I think Monroe will be a lot better defensively, or at least masked.

Smith will come off the bench and be a monster

KCP will be our 2 of the future if Meeks comes off the bench

Jennings will at least be serviceable for the short term. Not worth the 8 mil starter PG money (because of chucking/lack of finish/no defense) but serviceable.

What makes Jennings a major disappointment exactly?

Err... I think everybody would say his FGA and FG% would be a major disappointment (as well as his effort on defense). I think it's been that way since he entered the league. That's why he's labeled as a chucker. So for his one year here, he got better at passing which was nice. Maybe SVG will be able to build a strong offensive system where his FGA will come down and he'll be put into situations where better shot selection could happen. Same thing with defense, system, accountability, and steadiness.
The thing is that most people here have already made up their minds and do not believe that he can change or get any better and regardless of what is said and whatever coach takes over. They just think he will never put effort in on defense and always be a chucker. Nobody wants to wait and see either, they want results now. Not a project.

I think that most people are rightfully skeptical of Jennings improving and certain that Smith will not. I think this is reasonable.

While possible in theory it's extremely rare for players to drastically change shot selection or field goal % the longer they are in the league -- the only real exception being slashers who want to avoid the paint later in their careers. It might be just me but I can't even name a guy other than Billups who has done this.

So I take this stance based on the likelihood that Jennings or Smith would be the exception to the above. I just don't see that.

Chris Bosh changing his game to fit the Big3 and now being asked to change back basically is an example?

Jennings - still young, still showed that he can improve (APG up), so I would think the likelihood for him improving more under the best coach (not even close?) he's had would actually be pretty good.

Smith - I'm with you but it could go either way, @Moose10Fan or whoever made that comment about his FT shooting being awful in another thread, but it just dropped off two years ago from like 65%+ to barely over 50%, what the hell. Also, you would think under a better coach he'd only play PF and be told to only shoot in the paint :/. Now will he do that? Who knows. At one point he used to be able to. Him being at SF and having the greenest of lights last year was not fun to watch . So it'll be interesting to see if he can be pulled in now or if he's too far gone. That's why I've kind of been opposed to just dumping him for nothing this offseason :/. We finally have cohesiveness and structure in our organization, so maybe that'll help the situation a bit or resolve it quickly in season.

Depends on how fast SVG gives up on Jennings.
