Great video and breakdown!

I have really enjoyed watching summer league. So refreshing to see a Knicks team with so much ball and off the ball movement.....rather then everyone standing around watching 1 or 2 guys.

Can't wait to see Melo and the rest of the team during the season. I still expect a bit of a learning curve, but it should pay off in the end.

As far as Amare fitting in, he has been a really bad passer and turnover machine the last few years. I don't have a lot of faith that he will make good decisions with the ball. He can finish and score, but I wouldn't expect much passing at all...it'll most likely be a shot or TO when he gets the ball

Excellent video, great breakdown. I noticed you said you thought the spurs has your favorite type of offense with their motion one, could you do a video for that too?

Very educational non the less.

This is considered baiting. This is your only warning.

EDIT: Wait...how many warnings do you already have against your record? Wow.

Calderon, Carmelo, Bargnani. Put those 3 into the triangle shape and you have the offense

I think the Knicks would also thrive in a Flex offence. Flex gives us more options with the current roster (eg guard heavy). If we can get a little more talented in the frontline im all for the triangle though

David Blaine wrote:So from this video this should be our lineup based SOLEY on the effectiveness of running the offense

Jose/Larkin/Prig
THJR/JR/Shump
JR/Melo/Early
Melo/Amare
Barg/ J Smith/Cole

From this video it is shown that the guards should be able to shoot AND attack the basket. This makes me believe that Prig will eventually have to take a step back to Larkin due to his inability to attack the basket. And even with his 3PT shot he would need a quick release, which is something Pablo does not have. This is why I believe THJR will start due to his ability to shoot after curling off screens and his ability to finish strong. And while I hope that Early will eventually be able to grow into the role of the 2nd forward I believe JR would be the best to start at SF since he is the only other player on the roster that can shoot/finish off of cuts

I believe Melo and Amare can both play the weak side forward the best on the team. Melo would dominate from the high post and Amare would have ton of room to operate on the 2 man P&R game in the 2nd option of the triangle. I don't know if Amare would be willing to come off the bench, but if he does he will flourish.

Also while some may not agree, Barg is definitely our best bet for center. If we run the 1st option and no passing or shooting opportunities open up for us we will need our center to be able to iso from the mid post. Gasol would be perfect for this, but since that is not an option Barg is our best bet. I think Phil values C's who can hit that midrange jumper and is one of the reasons he signed J. Smith over other C's like Ed davis, who bring things like rebounding and defense. Barg can create the best at C than any other option on this team. This means I don't see as much playing time for Dalembert and Cole, which is definitely against the popular opinion of this board.

Now comes Shump. His defense would be greatly need, but since he can't shoot or finish I can't possibly see him getting a ton of playing time and definitely not start.

So IMO

Players who will greatly benefit from this system:
Melo, Amare, THJR, Barg, J Smith

Players who will somewhat benefit
Early, Jose, Larkin

Players who won't benefit
Cole, Prig, Shump, Dalembert

That's arguably the worst defensive starting lineup in NBA history.

Excellent video man. Just shows how deadly having Marc Gasol will be in this offense....if we are lucky enough to get him.

Which is why I said this lineup is based solely on running the offense, I doubt Phil actually starts this lineup

thanks for the video - i will speak for myself only, that as an educated fan i had a basic understanding of how the triangle worked but by you running through the different options and editing the actually sets it crystalized what we can expect in a very clear way.

the video was amazing and presumably very time consuming. i got a kick out of the request to have him put together a whole video of another team not relevant to ours.
i felt compelled to comment on that, not sure why. sorry.

Did you get any of the later games from the Knicks in SL?

It would be interesting to see how much different the team was running the triangle since in many of those plays there was players poining and directing each other to where they should be or going.

I would hope it was better with less hesitation.

We need better passers from the post. Amare, Dalembert , Cole, Bargnani and that other center we just acquired are not going to cut in that regard. THJ can excel in this system but he has to get better at not taking the first shot he sees.

judging from the last sl game, we totally got rid of it!

but honestly, it is amazing to see the offense implemented in only this short a time. cant wait to see it come season opener!

i have always felt that much of the sucess phil has had as a coach has been a result of the players he has had under him. with that said. i can see from this video where melo and several other players on our team, IF they buy in, will benefit from the triangle.
