I admit, I'd be tempted by Jordan Hill, the HOU pick, and losing the protection on the LAL pick entirely. I'm probably the only one though. I have an irrational love for the draft.
I think you're wrong about Randle, if they were both an the same contract anyway. Bled at max is probably worth less than Randle's rookie deal. But don't you worry about Kobe using his influence to force the front office to put a contender around him his last two years? I'd think he'd push for this. Because let's be honest: Randle ain't gonna do **** for you this season, and he'll likely be just mediocre next year.
Do you worry at all about his pedestrian summer league performance? One criticism pre-draft was that his lack of height would keep him from scoring in the post and getting rebounds. Well, he neither scored in the post nor got rebounds in summer league. It's not the most predictive forum, but it wasn't encouraging. Aren't you a little worried that you have a dud on your hands? Would you rather have Vonleh? I know I would.
That is all to say, I'm not terribly impressed by Randle and wouldn't be terribly excited to pick him up. Which is why I'd be interested in something like the deal you proposed earlier. Because Bled @ max is maybe even, maybe slightly negative value (depends on how he holds up). Hill's contract, if tradeable, and those two picks, are unquestionably assets. So I'm tempted. Let's deal
