I am not buying Zack Lavine stock, at least not yet. He was the 3rd or arguably 4th best player on a pretty bad UCLA team. It might have been the coaching, the system, whatever you say...but he certainly has a lot to prove before he can be lumped in with Smart and Payton who were very effective college players.

Exum is a different case since the sample size is so small. people are buying strictly on projections...so you either buy it or you dont...but most people think he would have produced at a high level if he went to college here.

Blasphemy that you didn't add Jordan Clarkson there.

According to your logic, Tim Duncan doesn't deserve any respect.

Exum is still a year or two out. He'll be really good someday, but I like Elfrid Payton for now.

Exum needs to get in shape and mature for a year or two, but I think his game is just electric. No offense to Payton and Smart who will both be good pros.

he certainly has the most to work with talent wise on the offensive side of the ball. hard not to drool over that kind of potential offensively. its going to be interesting to see how he develops and if he can harness that talent...

No secret that Payton and Smart are more ready to play tomorrow. But Exum will be good down the road.

Don't say anything when you haven't seen him play, it makes you look ignorant.

Napier is really bad and should've been taken late in the 2nd round.

Didn't watch a second of Lavine at UCLA, so its possible this is what he displayed in college, and based strictly off his lack of minutes/productivity in Pac12 play, this is what I was expecting. However, in SL (I know, it's just SL) he looked like more a PG than Westbrook does now, I was pretty amazed. That said, he's a combo guard who will probably eventually settle in as a SG who can play some minutes at the point.

Payton looked good in the summer league, but I think in a few years Exum will end up being the best PG in this draft

What the hell are you talking about.

I've seen Lavine play. Nothing was wrong with my original post.

He has good handles but his vision is limited, his passes are off the mark and he cant anticipate many plays in advance.

He is NOT a PG. Anybody calling him a Westbrook type should just remove themselves from this board.

Exum looks like to be a Bust. Has to be one of Payton or Smart.

Maybe at UCLA but you obviously haven't seen him in SL. He basically did everything that you said he couldn't.

Lattimer wrote:What kind of approach are the Magic expected to take with Payton. Are they going to have him play 20-25 mpg, or are they just going to throw him out there and have him start right away and play 30-35 a night?

He doesn't seem to have anyone in front of him and he had three years of college so maybe hes going to start right away. Just curious what people around the Magic think the plan is for him.

I think he's going to play a ton, but then again we have a pretty stupid headcoach so I could see Ben Gordon and Ridnour getting all the PG minutes. lol

Same thing was said about westbrook

And Rose... And Irving...

Levine certainly fits the bill with the question the OP is asking, since he used Rose, Westbrook and Irving in his example.

Anyway... My answer is Smart. I think if he came out last year, he would have been last seasons next big thing over MCW.

Even Curry.

No, he didn't. He played well in the Summer League, he just didnt show enough that he has what it takes to run a offense.

He seems mechanical with all his passes. His instincts are not very well from the spot.

He displayed his athleticism, his ability to shoot off the dribble and fluidity he moves in the Summer league, but not any PG skills that indicates he's someone you can handle over the keys to run a offense full time.

He's a two guard who has potential to play PG in spurts of a game.

Hilarious, falsely accuse of me of being ignorant when thats how YOU'RE coming off right now.
