Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jul 21, 2014 8:51 pm

Evan Turner is finalizing a contract with the Boston Celtics, according to sources.

Turner will sign for a portion of the Celtics' midlevel exception.

Turner finished last season with the Indiana Pacers after starting his career with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Now they have a backlog at the 2. Why would they do that?

Lol, Celtics, sorry.

A player whom demands the touches that Turner does and is that inefficient better play some resemblance of defense, which Turner doesn't.

Defense won't be the problem i'd say Rondo, Bradley and Smart are all tagged as good to elite defenders, therefore he'll get help there. Offensivly we'll see hope Rondo will hold him accountable for stupid plays on offense. Hopefully it's a real small portion of the MLE.

But i wonder what Danny Ainge is thinking. Can someone explain it to me please!

What a bust - sixers could of had demarcus cousins or Paul George (but he would have been a reach at the time). Favors would have been a decent selection but I don't think he has superstar potential. I remember turner used to be one of derrick rose's direct rivals in aau and college ball - now they are light years apart in talent. Turner at best will be a back-up guard on a sub-par team - he made the pacers worse after the trade deadline lol. He still thinks he's a star.

At least he is healthy.

Right now, I'd take Turner over Rose and his monster contract 10 out of 10 times.

Hopefully, I'm sure the Pacers thought they could make up for his deficiencies as well.

i wonder how much $$$ he would've gotten had he stayed in philly all year putting up those inflated #s. Probably would've been higher than part of the MLE.

1st round 2nd pick of the 2010 draft. typically what you see is what you get at this point but in the right situation I think he will be a very good player for the MLE. I suppose I am a bit biased because I like his game. and I felt he wasn't used right on Philly. I mean, we aren't expected a perennial all star. I like this move.

He's a combo-wing... But I'm gonna guess hell be playing a majority of his time at the 3.

Right, but he's also an SG. He failed in Indy off the bench, but that was because he was distracted off the court I would assume. He'd have to share minutes with Bradley, Wallace, Young, Smart and Thornton. We'll see if he actually makes an impact. He could make an impact with about 30 minutes per game, but I guess he wants to be relegated to a bench role since he's going here.

I remember Turner trash talking Rose real bad when they played each other during a few games (playoffs and regular season I think).

I do think, that Turner should be able to get more money. Put him on a bad team as a nr 1 or 2 option and he'll give you 20 points per game but don't expect anything more.

Well, he was the first and occasionally second option on arguably the worst team last season and only averaged 17ppg, inefficiently mind you.

The Turner/Rose beef started in high school when he basically said Rose wasn't **** and that he shut him down

If he buys into the system he should be a decent pickup
You mad?
