We should tell Detroit they have two options:

We work out a sign and trade for Monroe. We send the Minnesota pick (either a 1st rounder or two second rounders) to them in exchange for Monroe at 4 years and 44 million.

or

We sign Monroe to a 4 year/48 million dollar deal and force them to match.

I don't like Monroe as a 4, but I think he could be a very solid 5 in the west.

We basically got IT for free in a sign and trade, so why not give up a bit more to get Monroe. If Detroit balks, we force them to match. Power play.

I don't know where you got MLE from. The MLE is roughly 5.5 million and I said Amir would get 6.5 most likely with negotiations starting at 6. 7 is also possibly though I doubt it.

As I said defense is not awarded and recognized like offense is. If it were Tony Allen would be getting 10 million+, Ibaka would be getting the max and Lowry would be getting 15 million+.

The market tends to determine the prices not the players. Next years market has Aldridge, Millsap and Love at the PF spot. It's gonna be very competitive for those guys alone.

Let's talk about something that hasn't been discussed yet instead of the same Bledsoe and Monroe crap...

How about trading Ennis to the Raps for Amir Johnson?

Yep, Amir is really under appreciated by NBA fans and that includes Raptor fans as well. He brings so much to the table. Glad someone appreciates his game. I honestly don't know what it would take to get Amir from us.

Amir is like our Haslem and that alone is tough to trade because Masai values loyalty and chemistry. Also taking into account how much of an impact he has on the game and its tough to see Masai letting him go.

Perimeter defense isn't as scarce as rim protection. There is a reason a limited guy like asik will be making 15 million next season(only 8 counts against the cap) and a guy like taj gibson will be making 9 million. Then there's hibbert at 15 as well. These guys are at a premium and if amir is as good as you say then he will get payed accordingly(probably 8+ million)

If he makes the 6 million you say it will be because the guy is just a defensive bench piece who has never played more than 28 mpg ever in his career and can't rebound for a guy his size.

We struck out in free agency? You mean we didn't sign the best basketball player in the world who had no intentions of coming here in the first place... We also promised Warren we would take him at least a week before the draft, doesn't sound too questionable to me.

I missed this one and couldn't reply before the thread was locked.

I'd say we missed on the following guys we were interested in:

James
Anthony
Bosh
Gasol
Hayward (chose charlotte before flying to phoenix)
Frye

I never said our offseason was a failure. But it certainly wasn't a resounding success. Of the names above that we were interested in, we landed none of them. Losing Frye (the most realistic of the above) will probably hurt the most as it changes out offense significantly and can alter how our PG's perform. That's striking out.

He started for us and had the best plus-minus on our team after Lowry. Also ranked as the 8th best rim protector. Grabbed 6 rebounds and grabbed 7.5 last year.

Didn't need to rebound as much because we were a much better team. He shot 30% from 3, 53% from the field and averaged 1 block and 1 steal a game with 29 minutes played.

He's underpaid because most GM's/owners don't value defense like they do offense. Hibbert is overpaid. Asik is overpaid. Gibson is a better offensive player then Amir, not as good a defender.

He will get 6-7 million because that's what the market looks like it will be for him and because Masai isn't a moron GM. Teams will have the option of going after Millsap, Love and Aldridge, all who are offensive oriented bigs/PF.

Last thing. I don't understand the "if Amir is as good as you say he is". Have I not posted the 2 links countless backing up the fact that hes a top 10 rim protector and a advanced stats "darling" to the point where his impact is that of a superstar?

Well sure, if you use the term interest extremely loosely.

The off-season, where we argue about the merits and potential contract of Amir Johnson for no reason what-so-ever.

Beasley for Max Contract! You guys down?

j/k

I say offer Monroe knowing that Detroit will match and make Bledsoe think we are moving forward with someone else so that he either signs, accepts QO, or wants a S & T.

This will push the free agency forward.

Dude we get it, you're an Amir Johnson fan boy and you think he's a really good player. So good in fact he could command a whopping $6 million salary. Nothing wrong with being a fan boy, but when you make 20 posts all arguing basically the same thing it's getting borderline trollish. Most trolls are fairly mean spirited in their posts, but you seem to be very eager and polite in your trolling. You've made your point over and over. I just heard your buddies on the Raptor board miss you and would like you to come home.

Also guy's.

Dude talking about Amir Johnson isn't a troll. He is talking about how he is good and thinks he is underrated.

QUIT WORRYING ABOUT HIM COMMENTING IN REGARDS TO AMIR JOHNSON.

Didn't intend to argue. Not a Amir fan boy at all. Come on man we're all fans of our respective teams and we're just having a discussion. I didn't come here to insult you guys.

My point was Amir is underrated that's all im trying to say. He's worth a lot more then Ennis in a trade like some of you guys think. I apologize and I'll stop posting here.

Honestly, if we are looking for a good defender and a great rim protector/rebounder i would rather go after Sanders. Its been known that he is available (and for cheap), and he could reboot his worth here in the valley. He is still young and very mobile. I think he could be a perfect fit here.
