Here's a small trade idea. Send Neal to Chicago for Dunleavy.
Chicago drafted McBuckets (same position as Dunleavy), we just drafted Hairston (same position as Neal). So how about we swap our backup shooters to even things out? Neal and Dunleavy have the same contract.

I'd give them a 2nd for their troubles too.

Josh Smith...NO COMMENT
All this talk about Zellar starting? Unless he develops one hellava outside shot from the 3 line,I think he will be packaged with Hendo or Neal or Jt on a trade for a 3.
Williams will be our starter at 4 along with Al at 5 (both Utah), MKG at 3 ,Lance 2 ,and Kemba at the point.
That should raise our point total first team. The second team is the question mark?
Assuming we trade Hendo,Neal,Zellar,Biz and or JT, That leaves Vonleh at 4 and PJ at 2 and Roberts at PG..
If we trade Neal and JT to LAC for Dudley at(3) and then If we trade Henderson and Zellar2015 1st to NYK for Bargnani(PF)expiring contract, we would have room to sign Josh Davis as a third (SF). Our point production second team goes up dramatically. In 2015 we sign FA Center with Bargnani's expiring. AND BIZ's(RFA) and MKG's (TO)![]()
Kw,Roberts,Pargo
Lance,PJ,(or sign CDR or use KW/ Roberts together on floor.)
DudleyMKG,Davis
Williams,Bargnani,Vonleh
Al Biz, (Rotate Bargnani/Vonleh at 5 or Sign FA SL Center to this season only)
We could do a three team trade
Pistons get Zeller + Wright
Dallas get Neal + Henderson
Hornets get Mekel + Crowder + Smith + Mitchell
Pistons get money back this season to put to Greg Monroe
Hornets get a upgrade at PF and SF plus they get a third option at PG
Mavs get a SG that can start, so we can slide Monta to PG.
Does Hendo have solid defense?
You get
C Big Al / Biyumbo / Vonieh
PF Smith / Williams / Mitchell
SF MCG / Crowder / Taylor
SG Stephnson / Hairston / Taylor
PG Walker / Pargo / Mekel
You will just need a SG then you are set. I think you improve your defense inside with Smith with shot blocking and steals.

Really looking forward to seeing that MCG, Vonieh, Biyumbo lineup in action
Still not sure I'd add Smith, but to answer your Hendo question, "solid" is a decent way of putting it. He's not at MKG's level defensively, but he's not a turnstile either.

He can knock them down from time to time to keep defenses honest even though he isn't very good at them. I would not even hesitate to trade Zeller/Hendo/Neal and 1st round pick for Smith. The only risk would be his locker room presence since we just signed Lance but as far as on the court he would great.
Have you even looked at his contract? He plays dumb on offense and is getting paid for two more years at a crazy amount. If he expired after this coming season I would consider it minus the pick but no way do you give up any value for that guy. On the court he provides good help defense and average man defense and 0 smart offense so I would give him a net negative.

Does Henderson have a decent 3 or does he only have mid range with layups? Is he better or worse than Neal at shooting 3s

Hendo is a much better mid range shooter. He can shoot the 3 but he usually doesn't look very comfortable doing it.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Again, this is exactly what I am talking about. You are completely judging his game off one bad season for Detroit where he was playing out of position for a team that was tanking half the season. See Josh Smith in Atlanta. It would he nice if his contract was a year shorter but would we really be giving up for him? An average player none of us want, a terrible chucker who is borderline useless, a decent PF prospect that will almost surely never be as good as Smith, and a late first round pick. That isnt much at all for what Josh Smith can be and has been for the majority of his career. Contract length and Stephenson make it a pretty big risk but we absolutely need an upgrade at PF over Marvin and Zeller to be able to really make a push in the next two years. Smith isnt my first choice or anything, but he could make our team a lot better and I really trust our coaching staff.

Unless Zeller can make some big improvements this offseason our PF position is going to be a big problem for us. Marvin is not good enough to be a starting PF on a serious playoff team and he is coming off an injury. Im surprised people are ok with him as our starter. We should be willing to give up a pick or Zeller to get a quality starter if we are serious about contending the next two years. Our picks are going to be late first rounders anyways and we have tons of young talent. We need to do something. I would try to snag Jeff Green from Boston but there are a few players we could go after that could help us at PF. We dont need anymore mediocre backups and we dont need one dimensional below average players that can only shoot.

No I think you are trying to remember him as not being a boneheaded player because this year was soooooooo bad. He is a career 28% three point shooter and shoots over 100 a year most seasons. He had one year he went away from it but other than that only missing games has kept him from jacking up dumb shots.
For example Josh Smith has three years in his entire career where is win shares per 48 are higher than MKG's was this season. His last two years were pretty bad. All he does is block shots as a help defender and make dumb plays on offense. I know this year was a bit of an aberration in how totally awful he is but lets not kid ourselves into thinking he was good prior. He has always been a dumb player on offense and at this point in his career likely always will be. He is paid twice what he is worth at this point.

I completely agree we need a better starting PF and right now it is the worst position on our team. We have three PFs on the roster right now so if we add one we would need to trade one and I guess it would have to be Zeller. What we don't need to do is pick up a long term contract of some over paid guy. We don't need an all star or a guy paid like one. Green would be a great target. Even if he picks up his option his contract ends at the right time.

I seriously believe our coaching staff and front office are not looking to do anything with the 4 spot. Clifford's quotes in todays Observer article on Marvin make me believe they will roll with what we have. Not saying they wouldn't make a deal if it was a clear upgrade, but I just think they will let Cody and Marv battle it our for PT and bring Noah along slowly.
I would like to see a trade with either Hendo or Neal going out.

I agree too. I don't like the idea if we want to try to make a run this season but I do think it is the plan.

He makes some boneheaded plays but in a good system its not that bad and his defense is really good when hes engaged. I like his ability to play the high post. I would definitely go for someone like Green or on his level.

Josh Smith would be outstanding on this team, but his contract just flat out blows. And with Cho putting all his eggs in one basket for 2016 its just a no go.
Smith, MKG, Stephenson on the defensive end would be a sight to behold, though.
