I'm predicting 50 wins...if the core guys stay mostly healthy.

The addition of Blair and Humphrey will be huge. Their presence will help keep both Gortat and Nene fresh. Either Porter or Rice (maybe both) will be a big surprise...and at least help to mitigate the loss of Trevor A.

While not nearly the player he once was (or Ariza currently is), I expect Pierce to come into camp motivated by all the talk about him being too old and have a better season than he did with the Nets, especially with J. Wall setting him up for a ton of open looks.

I also don't expect Wall and Gortat to stay completely injury free like last year. The only reason I expect some improvement is that I think Beal is going to make The Leap.

Best season since 1979. Barely better than last year. Perfect mix of optimism and pessimism. Barring major roster changes or injury news, I'll go with 46.

EDIT: I'll say 4th seed, lose to Cavs in six in the 2nd round.

I'll change it before the season starts, but right now I'm going with 54-28. I think we get the 2 seed.

Also, I think we make it to the ECF too.

The poor home record last season and history of underachievement under Wittman is what tempers my optimism a little. It's the reason I don't pick us to be the one seed even though I think we have the best roster in the East and are the best road team in the conference.

I also worry a little about the chemistry change in the locker room. I wish we were keeping Al Harrington around. Guys like him are important for locker room coherence.

And I wonder if Beal isn't still one year away from being a legit All Star caliber player.

But if he is, this team will be way better than last year's team. We replaced Ariza and Booker with better players IMO. We got a bench. We'll get improvement from Wall and Beal and contributions from Porter. And we are going into the season with well defined roles and our dicks swinging after a playoff run. This as opposed to last year when we went into the season with guys not knowing their place on the team yet, and just hoping to win enough games to keep the front office from getting fired. We know we're good now.

But we need to win more OT games, and we need to take care of business at home like a legitimate top team does.

just a quick note to those who don't know and/or missed this in other threads:

seeding - Division winners are guaranteed a top 4 seed - nothing more than that. So the 4th
team and non-division winner that makes it into the top 4 could be anywhere btw 2-4.

home court is always determined by record

47-35. Lose in 7 in the 2nd round.

Half the board celebrates the season as progress and growth. Half decries our mediocrity, lack of upside and true championship aspirations.

Lots of friendly, witty banter ensues.

You've touched on all the points that give me concern as well. Especially the history of Wittman. He's just so stubborn and refuses to adjust. Problem is, we now have pieces that don't really fit the conventional way. If we go conventional full time, it's going to be a struggle. But Wittman really knows no other way. To not even experiment with Ariza at the 4 last year when everyone else in the league is spacing the floor is a little disconcerting.

Also the ceiling of both Wall & Beal may be lower than we think if the volume of long 2s they put up isn't going to be addressed.

And I'm very curious to see if the passivity Wall displayed at the end of last season and the playoffs trends into next year. If it does, then we'll have even bigger problems.

I'll give em 45-37, a slight improvement due to better front court depth and expected improvement from Beal.

53 wins

Wizards kept most of their core added a Vet Paul Pierce who will be good at the SF whether he starts or not will be a big contribution. Now Nene doesn't have to play so many minutes maybe even have him be the 6th man off bench untill playoffs and start either Blair or Humphries.

47-35 . . . and this is the most optimistic I've been about the Wiz in a very long time! They're still the Wizards so exactly how they will dissappoint this year still remains a mystery.

The Randy Factor, what's the +/- on win/losses with him as head coach? We have the best Wiz roster in years finally.
