With the 18th pick I would have drafted...

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Thu Jul 24, 2014 4:56 am

Hood, Harris, Ennis, or someone else and why? I'm just curious. The Ennis pick was a surprise for me at the time as we had worked out Hood (twice I think) and Harris (and could always use a shooter) and I thought we might have drafted Ennis with a plan like Philly had to take a player a team two spots below us wanted with a plan to trade him for whoever was still available between Hood and Harris at 20 and hopefully get additional future picks out of it.

Some were not happy with my suggestion at the time and I can understand that, but it's not like it is something that isn't done. Philly took Payton, knowing Orlando wanted him, and then traded him for Saric, picked two picks later and also got future picks out of it.

I'd have done what you said...trade it for future 1st rd picks.

Ironically that's what I wanted us to do with our 2012 first round pick also when we instead selected....Kendall Marshall.

I am not a fan of Gary Harris and Hood would be redundant with Warren already on board.

The best case scenario would have been picking Zach LaVine (damn you, Wolves!) at 14th and TJ Warren at 18th.

However, one player I`d pick over Ennis at 18th is Jarnell Stokes. We need a bruiser in the paint more than a pg and them two are on the same talent level, imo.

I'd have traded it to TOR for Amir Johnson.

If MCD chose Ennis, that's cool with me. Give him a chance. A couple summer league games and he sucks... I bet if he would have killed it this thread wouldn't have even been created.

I would not have been surprised at all if that was our plan. Levine was expecting to come to Phoenix.

I wonder if Warren would have lasted to 18.

I was satisfied by his SL performance in the first game. The first time he actually penetrated the defense off the dribble-- something I'm not sure I ever saw Marshall do-- it was like, "whew! an nba player"

His talent and composure were obvious. If he works hard I won't be surprised to find myself watching him in the league in 5 years (in Phoenix or elsewhere)

Not a fan of Harris because he's pretty small for a 2 guard has a shorter standing reach than ennis. I wonder if James young would have been on the board if that would have been the pick. I maybe would have went capala instead just for the upside but am fine with ennis considering how the picks before us fell.

I imagine they looked into trade this pick and/or 27 but it takes two to tango in the trade game. Probably wasn't an option.

hell yeah. Lavine+Warren would be a masterpiece.

I wonder if he would with hindsight, knowing we now have IT for 4 years plus if we keep Bledsoe for another four and re-sign Dragic next year. Ennis then probably never plays much his entire rookie contract which certainly won't help his trade value either.

Yeah, I can imagine those who don't have faith in Goodwin wanting LaVine to and hoping he could be that future stud at the 2.

I would have drafted Dee Znuts, someone we could stash away in a warm, safe place until needed.

Gary Harris.
He is really young but is very skilled and he has an NBA' body, so he can play right now in this league coming of the bench. He is a little undersized, but that is not a problem playing SG for Wade, Oladipo, Bradley or...Dragic.
He is a two way player, with great shooting ability, hard worker and tremendous upside in my opinion.

If Toronto was down for that, I'd make that trade in a heartbeat. McD has said throughout the season and leading up to the draft that we were unlikely to draft 3 rookies but that's exactly what we did.

Kyle Anderson. Too interesting a prospect to pass up. Good rebounder, ball-handler and passer, promising shooter, lengthy.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.
