Nice to meet you, ardee.

I'm from England. I'm a buyer for the University of Oxford, I run tenders / negotiate contracts for all major IT purchases.

Only got into basketball through video games (one of the early NBA Live games IIRC) - but obviously knew about MJ & Shaq before then. Started to support Miami in the early Shaq/Wade era but only really got to follow the NBA more closely with online streaming around 2009 or so (whevever I joined RGM)

My first love is motorsports, I raced karts for many years. I now race a Porsche 944 :) (me:)

And I like football (soccer) a bit and support Chelsea.

Which one is your favourite circuit? Have you ever been racing abroad?

22, major is Graphic Design. I live in OKC, and growing up we had a lot of Laker fans here but I loved watching the early 00s Kings teams. Been a Kings fan since then. Getting the Thunder was awesome because it let me go to Kings games, and eventually watch a good team in my own backyard. The Thunder drafting Harden was what got me REALLY into basketball and made me realize that a lot was happening in the small details on the floor. I loved seeing how the team just played way better when he was on the floor, especially when he handled the ball. HIs abilities, and seeing how little he was being played made me start to question why a player like Jeff Green could get 40 minutes a game, and Harden couldn't. It was pretty much a catalyst for me to understand things like RAPM, TS%, etc.

I'm terrible at actually playing basketball though. I can for the most part see how plays are going to develop if I'm watching, but it's really hard for me to process that while I'm playing. Add in the fact that I hated sports as a kid/teenager, and I really just never developed basic skills to play even at a rec level. Instead of sports, I was really into competitive gaming. I played the **** out of Halo PC. Now I play Counter-Strike competitively, but I've recently transitioned to more 'casual' competitive playing (AKA no league play).

Hehe, you got it. Pretty much guarantee though that I won't be the best player out there.

Whew, I feel better now, I know I can't play (at least anymore, haven't picked up a ball in years), so I'm at least not alone!

OK I'll take the other side. I play against a 6'10" guy in one of my regular pick-up games and frequently have to guard him so I have some experience with that.

Im looking for the PC board chucker because my screen/o-rebounding game works best with an unabashed chucker. Let me hear from you--I know we have some on here.

edit: that van is hilarious. My son would love it. The wife......not so much.

Just to speak on my "game" (I say that very loosely), I'm around 6'1 maybe 6'2 210 pounds. I play with my friends throughout the summer every year but I've never really been on a team or tried out for one other than in Grade 8 when I was glued to the bench.

Anyway, I play like a stretch 4 who can also bang down low and dribble. Unfortunately a stretch 4 at 6'1 is laughable and embarrassing but hey, that's just how I play :).

Well, if you want rebounds I'm not your man then, sadly. My nickname is similar to Jordan's, 'Air', but with an addition: 'Air..ball', so I would need someone used to grab balls before they go out of bounds.

Im not looking for rebounds Im looking for a guy willing to jack up shots at a rate that would make Kobe embarrassed. My scoring game is extremely limited. If I'm wide-open I can knock down my set-shot and Im okay at following up misses, but asking me to create my own shot against even the worst of defenders is dicey.

When I play at the offensive end I just want to set screens and crash the glass. So if you hate passing and love shooting, I'm your guy.

I'd definitely want to have An Unbiased Fan on my team in a PC board pickup game. IIRC he's about 6'5'' 210 lbs and claimed that he could beat MJ 1 on 1. Why am I not surprised that he's a big Kobe guy?

Well I'm 6'1, 176 lbs (about 9% body fat though, steadily gaining, hoping to be 185 or close to that by the end of the year). I had a pretty ok jumper, off the bounce and spot-up, but I really haven't been playing with most of my attention focussed on the gym. Despite my comparatively piddly squat numbers I have very strong legs and back people down in the post easily... finishing is another issue though.

If I got it back with some practice I'd be happy to pair up with Chuck and make a good no. 2/3 pairing for someone like Doctor MJ or AUF to be our Jordan/Kobe/LeBron for

We would be a great fit - I'm a pretty remorseless chucker (or at least was, don't play much these days), with a very streaky jumper. Really, I never met a shot I didn't like. :)

Well, when I used to play, I loved jacking up 25 footers from straight away and the wing. Not much of a corner 3 guy, but give it to me anywhere else outside, and I'll throw it up. Problem is, my handle always sucked, especially for someone my height. Don't know why, but shooting always came way more naturally to me. Haven't played in a few years due to knees, stamina and to at times, a bad back. I'm not old, and not the least bit overweight, in fact, I'd like to gain weight, but smoking for years has taken A LOT from my stamina.

But if I got into shape again, I'd be happy to be a Reggie or Dan Majerle type chucker, or are you talking about someone who handles the ball better?

It's funny because my favorite player when I got into basketball was John Starks and his handle wasn't bad, but I guess I forgot that part and just imitated his chucking.

Cool thread.

I'm a 20 year old studying Political Science at the University of Toronto, planning for law school. Born in Pakistan and moved to Toronto at the age of 9. First game I ever watched was LeBron's game 5 against Detroit in 07. Started playing a ton of ball in grade 7 and 8 so the love grew from there. I'm not the best, but I'm decent enough for the guys I play with. 6'2, stick thin lol I don't shoot much, almost to a fault. I like to pass but I also like to dribble a lot. Can't shoot for the life of me, I have the worst form, no rotation on the ball.

I think I'm one of the youngest here.

Mock draft. Who would go #1 overall based on these scouting reports? Who would you rather build around - Texas Chuck or Quotatious?

I've never independently done a weight program, but back when I was competing (track) we had a circuit training regimen we had to do 3 days a week. Back then I maxed out at 295 on the bench and 395 squat. Of course, that was back in the 90s. 15 years, a wife, kids, and a lot of food later I entered last year way out of shape. I've tried to get back in the gym a bit, but not as consistent as I'd like. I've got "old man strength" now, so ironically weight lifting comes easier now than it did when I was competing. My bench PR has gone up, but I haven't been focused enough to get my squats back up. In a perfect world I'd like to try cross fit, but I'm not quite there yet

Crossfit? What is your goal? Strength, hypertrophy, or weight loss?

"Goal" makes my interest sound deeper than it is. But if I had to state one, I'd say that I'd be looking for a combination of strength and stamina (and perhaps explosion) if I tried cross fit. My old normal was that I could look anyone, even world class athletes, in the eye and not feel out of my league. My new normal is that I'm way bigger than I used to be (not necessarily in a good way) and no longer in anywhere near the same type of shape. So if I did cross fit (or whatever more regimented program), my real goal would be to re-train my body so that I could feel like I was operating closer to capacity again. I miss that feeling. And my kids are getting older, and into sports, and I'd like to be able to hang on to the "superman" respect from them as long as I possibly can.
