I agree

When you take a look at who was drafted after Alex it does not appear that we made as big of a mistake as has been suggested. If Len ever gets healthy and gets a pulse he might end up being the best pick in the draft. Unfortunately we are all impatient fans, including me, and want more.

Who would have been a better pick for now and the future Len or:

1. Burke (another small point guard that we looked at) I like him.
2. Noel (hasn't played a game yet)
3. McClemore
4. Michael Carter Williams ( had a great 1st year) but we need bigs.
5. Steve Adams (I like him but he would have been a stretch to pick at 5)
6. Olynyk - See Adams
7. Dieng - This is the guy I wanted but I do not know how we could have justified a #5 pick for him
8. Mason Plumlee - Was not on anyone's radar but could end up being at the top of this class

Who should we have picked at #5?

I quite frankly think we made the right choice based on how the players after him performed in their first year. While certainly not better than some of them it is not like we passed on a Michael Jordan clone to draft him.

That could change if Len turns into the bust some think he will be.

to be fair, while tons of question marks were around Noel this same time last year, summer league has been extremely kind to him. Meanwhile, Len hasn't even had a good summer league campaign.

He got hurt. The 6 or so minutes he played in the SL were good productive minutes.

I think Ryan Anderson would boost the suns to top 8 out west.

It also allows Markieff Morris to lead the bench with Thomas, assuming Green gets trade for Anderson.
The additional 5 million dollars off the cap space hurt next year or during the season though... Assuming Suns are banking on a mid season trade from a team having a bad season who wants to clear space instead.

Joel Meyers, the Pelicans announcer and host on NBA radio, stated that the Pelicans really want to keep Anderson. I think they know how valuable the guy is as the second best stretch 4 in the league.

So who comes off the bench, Anderson or Asik?

Probably depends on matchup. My guess is that against teams like Houston and Memphis, Asik starts, and teams like OKC, Anderson starts.

Noel tore his ACL and the 76ers kept him from playing last season cause they sucked. That's the only injury he's ever had. Len has constantly been injured and continues to get injured in different areas of the body. Completely different scenario.

Not true.

Noel's torn ACL might have been linked to an injury he suffered during his sophomore year in high school. According to this report from The Courier-Journal, Noel fractured the growth plate in his left knee and was forced to sit out the entire season.

Instead of waiting for the knee to fully recover, the lanky forward rushed back to the court to play AAU ball during the summer. It's not a sure thing that the high school injury is the reason for the torn ACL, but complications can arise if the knee does not fully heal.

"If the leg healed awkwardly and (Noel) had a malalignment in that knee, that could predispose him to future injuries in that leg," Dr. Robin West told the Courier-Journal.

It "might" have been linked? Find a credible source, not speculation.

Alex Len

Right Ankle Surgery due to a stress fracture
Left Ankle Surgery
Knee injury missing 6 weeks
Right pinkie fracture

So yes, one torn ACL and your theory he "may" have came back to early which caused a setback is different than Len's multiple injuries piling up.

The 6ers tanked last year. They intended to sit him the entire season and that was mentioned at the beginning of the year. He could have easily played.

Well I will be the one to say, Dionte Christmas, wish you nothing but the best!!! I thought his time in Phoenix was decent and should get him to another NBA team at least. Hard worker and good teammate. Didn't feel his need on the team though so that's good.

Pot/ kettle there. Pure speculation that Noel was fine to play. He was even sat out of a few SL games, were the Sixers tanking those games too?

What we do know is that Alex has the potential and skill set to be a FAR better offensive player and while he may not rack up blocks and steals as often as Noel, his length and wingspan alone will make him the best true center defensively we've had in Phoenix last 20 (mark west/oliver miller) years. Lets see who can stay healthy and come back to this topic in the next year or two.
"Mannnnn I’m like the guy that pissed this whole board off saying literally all year no Mikal, no Mikal in the KD trade."
