I would rather do the three team deal and get a more balanced team with depth at every single position. If we could get Thompson, Martin and Waiters for just Gibson and Dunleavy I would do it in a heartbeat.

C: Noah, Gasol, Bairstow
PF: Gasol, Thompson, Mirotic
SF: Butler, McDermott, Mirotic
SG: Martin, Waiters, Snell
PG: Rose, Hinrich, Brooks

That to me looks like a well balanced team that would not only be the favorites in the east but the favorites to win it all. That team to me looks scary because our second unit would destroy every other teams second unit anytime.

Maybe my judgement IS impaired. I think I may be suffering from the-Bulls-still-don't-have-a-wing-shot-creator-and-Niko-is-gonna-get-10-mins-a-game fever. I'm going to bed.

Well, they would be right about Taj being the best defensive PF in the game. I think he is. He can score pretty good these days too. probably the team's 2nd best creator of his own shots on the team last year in a role he wasn't familiar with. Not often your "defensive specialist" gets fed the ball in the low post and the coach just yells "go to work Taj!".. and he was pretty efficient down there and once he got his shot going again he was good from a lot of spots.

the other aspect that doesn't get brought up on this three way is we have Taj for three more years. Martin and Waiters are both on contract years, Thompson will looking to get paid next year as well.. We lose Taj for crap that isn't even likely here in two years. Bad move.

So if Taj is staying, for three more years, and we just signed Gasol for three years, where does that leave Mirotic, who we also just signed for three years?

I don't know, I haven't even seen Mirotic play other than a few hours of video. So I don't even know what we have yet. If he's great and we wind up trading Taj or Gasol, then, whatever. I would rather have a 30 and 31 yr old Taj than a 35 and 36 year od Pau. What if Niko is good but not living up to the hype in a year... maybe he gets dealt. Right now, we have a great big rotation where everyone can play a lot of minutes and nobdoy gets beat up and run down. Pau is old and Noah gets hurt a lot and needs more rest.

Taj will get dealt then Miro. Miro has youth and shooting on his side.

Who knows? maybe Gasol gets dealt before either.. What if Taj and Niko both are outplaying him this season? Not likely.. but it could happen. Or more likely, Pau has health issues. or maybe Jo does.. Let's play some ball first, huh?

Like Thibs says.. "He doesn't even know if Taj or Pau will start yet. He hasn't seen them on the floor together and with Jo yet. Neither have we. What if Taj is putting up 16 and 9 in 30 MPG and Pau is struggling? Maybe Pau gets dealt at the deadline. You have no idea and neither do I.

do people who want to get involved as a third team in this trade have add or something? the only possible reason i can think of is that people see trade talks going on and want the bulls to be a part of them one way or another so they don't feel left out

Individually but not collectively. Add in Taj and it makes even less sense.

Smart business move or not, dealing Mirotic after earning his trust over three years would be contrary to everything Reinsdorf wants his organizations to represent and a departure from how the Bulls typically operate. It would be bold but borderline betrayal. It might lead to more victories but overall result in the loss of respect, and the Bulls traditionally care about both.

Perhaps that explains why, as of Thursday, Mirotic and his representatives remained under the impression the 6-foot-10 forward was not part of any "significant offer'' the Bulls made for Love.

I sense nothing's really going on for us in this thing.

Yeah, I never thought Mirotic would be traded. That would look really bad for the Bulls to do that to him.

Except for jacking up the price for Cleveland, I don't really like these rumored deals.

I want to see Snell get a chance as I think he on paper could fit very well with Rose and McDermott going forward (ballhandling, shooting and SF defensive ability).

I don't having Noah as our only elite interior defender.

I'm sorry but that team is lame.
Chunks of depth won't play /develop or serve much use.
On such a team, Waiters and Thompson will get limited minutes. McD will get even less minutes, while Mirotic will hardly see the floor.

Thompson (and Butler) are up for extensions after the season. Waiters up for extension after that.

You have all this depth that you can barely use and you will end up letting big chunks of it walk (unless you do a consolidation trade).

Teams don't play hockey line-ups. We tried that in back in 2010/11. When you get deep into the offs, the best players play major minutes.

BTW, if we pull off a McD, Mitoric, MDJ, Taj for Love and Martin deal, the 5 starters you have listed are still on the team (I'm guessing Gasol goes to the bench with Hinrich, Brooks, and Bear-toes).
Jealousy is a sickness.......get well soon....

I want to see what we have in Snell too. He could be just what we are looking for at SG.

Exactly the reason it doesnt make sense he was even being offered. Thats why the deals didnt make sense coming from the Bulls.

You want a bad PR rep in europe? Take the best player in euro basketball and lie to him when he basically only committed to this team. After waiting and expecting to come over for 3 years.

I am not a huge love fan. I would rather keep our current team. Unless we trade Taj for wing player, dumping everything for Love seems unlike us. I expect Mirotic is almost untouchable. Not in the value sense but in the Bulls have morals sense. Also the reason I dont see us trading Kirk again.
