Actually it makes sense. We are way deep at PF and SF and consolidating that depth into a legit superstar is a good idea. Whether or not that jives with our impression of the FO's love affair with "our guys"...thats another issue
In thread 4, I made a post about how I love Love, and how he is the perfect fit next to Derrick Rose outside of Kevin Durant.
It makes complete sense to consolidate from a pure roster perspective, as if we’re playing 2K15 or working on some theories via a spreadsheet. It all makes sense, but that’s not what I am discussing.
If our FO do have love affair with players, why would people be confident in these reports? I don’t understand how anyone could come to the conclusion that they would suddenly put that on hold for Love. For me, it’s almost mutually exclusive.
Correct me if I am wrong but jus thinking over the timeline its looks like thats exactly what happened. The reports were delayed a few days after the Melo drama but that doesnt mean the talks didnt start up sooner than reports came out.
But why sign Mirotic & Gasol if your ‘Plan B’ was Love all along? Why incorporate McDermott and Mirotic into the franchise like we have and have press conferences with these guys when we’re about to ship their ass out?
Why not offer them up for trade days after they have signed, and not 2 weeks ago?
How have things been ongoing since Melo ended? Has the signing of McDermott and Mirotic and the proceeding parading them around Chitown all been but a bluff?
Well you have to remember that he is being paid over 15 mil and being traded is a part of life in pro sports. Wiggins is going through it right now as well. They arent the first and wont be the last.
I understand that. He just made 16m over 3 years, more than I will ever see in my life time so I shouldn’t have any emotional attachments to a guy who has yet to score a bucket for my Bulls, but I can’t help but feel it would be extremely unprofessional to give the guy a commitment that he would remain here, and use that as a negotiation tactic to get him and his family over into a foreign land, only to kick him out and move him all days later.
For me, it’s different than making your standard trade. It’s dirty imo.
Trade his rights, I don’t care, but don’t make promises to keep him around, only to deal him later on. That sends a bad message around the league and I’d like to think this organisation treats its people better than that.
I for one would be extremely impressed if they manage to acquire Love, lord knows the Bulls have bee trying to acquire a star via trade or FA since circa '99, and if they actually manage to pull it off

I would be concerned with Flip’s mental health for taking our offer instead of Cleveland’s, but I digress.
Basically, I have no issues with acquiring Love the player at all. He fits beautifully here, but it just doesn’t seem like a Bulls move to trade Taj, McDermott & Mirotic for him.
If the organisation is criticized for being overly loyal, then this offer seems suss to me, even if adding Love and consolidating our front court ‘makes sense’.
