Yeah he really does need to fix that problem. On the right team, it shouldn't take too long for him to improve. Also, he does get to the line and that will help the team get their opponents over the foul limit. If he gains enough weight, I can't see people stopping those +1 like James.

Has anyone else noticed his inability to finish at the rim? I've watched all his summer league games and college games. Every time I see him attack and there's the slightest bit of contact he always tries to do a finger roll or layup and it almost always rims out. With his standing reach of 8'10.5 and 44" vertical, shouldn't he be able to just dunk it with ease? When he was in college his high school coach and reporters called him out on it saying he always tries to avoid contact instead of finishing through it. Wiggins said he didn't realize he was doing that. He started finishing at the rim better towards the end of the season at kansas. But it seems like he's going back to his old habits. I've noticed he also gathers and takes off from too far out. Any thoughts?

Lebron did this a bit in his first year. He would try to go around contact rather than through it when he went to the rim. Over time he learned to go through contact (though Lebron was always adept at finishing with either hand, which makes it easier) I'd guess Andrew will do the same. Especially as he builds up his strength in the weight room.

Responding a bit to the previous poster as well. It may be his huge stride length makes it tougher for him to leap as well as he can at certain times since he does seem like more of a 2 ft jumper. I wouldn't be too worried long term about Wiggins finishing near the rim but he does have to build up his strength, skills and touch in that area. I don't he will be Lebron or even Durant like finishing near the rim in traffic but he should still be very good over the medium to long term.

Funny thing is, how often does a #1 pick get to start his career with a top 5 NBA team? That is pretty much unheard of!

Let's hope it works out sort of like Tim Duncan going to the Spurs because of Sean Elliott and David Robinson injuries the previous season. Though the Spurs weren't necessarily top 5 that season, they were pretty good and won it a year later.
James Worthy to the Lakers in 1982 compares as well. They won it all that season.

im not worried about his finishing

that will sort itself out with gaining strenght and experience

many thiner guys have that problem until they get stronger

and dont forget hes only 19 for most of the season

and playing besides Lebron will do wonders for him.

Lebron will teach him everything he needs to be great... as long as he is willing to learn.. he will be great

Reggie Lewis for those too young to remember him. This is Wiggin's ceiling in my opinion (fingers crossed)

Reggie Lewis is a Baltimore legend. That's a pretty nice comparison. I really see a lot of Paul George in Andrew Wiggins and I think will be on a similar career trajectory.
