Lakers Pencil Carlos Boozer As Starting Small Forward

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jul 26, 2014 5:32 am

Carlos Boozer was introduced by his new team, the Los Angeles Lakers, on Friday.

The Lakers were not optimistic about landing Boozer during the waiver claim process but did so with a $3.25 million bid.

Boozer heard the news from his agent.

"I was ecstatic and I was jumping up and down," Boozer said. "I went back out there and got two more hours in."

Boozer is penciled in as the Lakers' starting small forward, although he has played power forward throughout his 12-year NBA career.

Boozer said he believes he could play up to seven more seasons.

Good thing pencils have erasers.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

OK that is beyond (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to think Boozer can play any small forward let alone start.

Brilliant. Why didn't Chicago think of this?

What the? If he's not playing power forward, why claim him? He can play a little center, but SF? why?

They submitted a bid for him before they signed ed davis (who i think was promised a starter role cause he signed way below his market value). Jordan Hill is also a starter (he wouldn't have resigned with lakers if he isn't cause he was offered starting gigs from other teams). Lakers also want Julius Randle getting minutes so he will be the back-up power forward. Lakers want randle to bloom into a star that can be a part of their future or become a valuable trade chip down the road. Lakers have quite a predicament in pf log jam. They can't trade boozer cause he was claimed off amnesty waivers and they can't trade ed davis unless it is to a place he wants to go. Davis , Boozer and randle are all pure pfs who aren't as big or athletic to shift to other positions.

I thought it was a typo when I saw the title, but then I read the article... Lol. This is strange. I can't see this happening.

I think Davis will play a lot of C this season.

I can see him playing SF in China, but for the Lakers?

This team is going bananas...

I didn't think Boozer's shooting range was that good the further he got from the basket. It is out of the realm of possibility that he would be able to defend a SF. Nevertheless, Boozer doesn't have to worry about taking shots anyway since most will be taken by Kobe and the rest by Swaggy Pee.

LOL !!!!
"We're like Tim Duncan and David Robinson," Villanueva said, following the team's morning shootaround at the America West Arena. "But a younger version. I really feel that."

That's beyond a joke, he is not quick enough to play SF or skillful enough or agile enough.

The Laker jokes just write themselves these days.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

The real joke here is at the very end where it says that boozer thinks he can play 7 more seasons. LMAO.

At one point in my life, I was convinced Saer Sene was going to be our teams savior.

Then you should have nothing to worry about right? You are worried because you know the Lakers always bring it.

This absolutely has to be a mistake by the writer. Everyone knows, including Boozer himself that he's not capable of playing even a single minute at SF on either side of the ball.
