Re: How the Knicks are Running the Triangle Offense
the key to success with this offense is being able to stick with it through the rough times. The execution may look ugly at times, but the team must stick to the plan. Melo must stick to it, JR must stick to it, Amare must stick to it. Also, every player must be involved. If we unfortunately remember last year, it was a two man game for the most part and the other three players probably moved 2 steps.... it's essentially a nice reward system, where: if you make the cuts, screens, and execute the plays, you will be rewarded. It should be win win. And the dribble dribble dribble offense should not be used unless the team is trying to kill time at the end of games.

It is time for RealGM to change the Knicks's avatar logo for the one with the triangle in it.

I agree there are going to be some rough times with this system and we need to stick it out, but one thing i always hated about the triangle is that there are virtually no high pick and roll sets. Most of the plays are run from thr sides of the court and never from the top. I hope phil will let fish switch it up here and there because with shooters on the court and a PR guy like amare, i feel calderon would be a great high pik roll guy. But thr triangle doesnt use that at all. Rick carlisle ran that alllll the time and calderon did well. I just hope that dfish learns to call the right play when needed.

This was awesome. Only strengthens my belief that Larkin and Calderon, who run the pick and roll so well because of their threat as shooters, will thrive. Most importantly, you see how ridiculous Melo is gonna be in these sets. Hoping Amare can pick it up as well.
Thx again

I think it can be run.... Phil has modified the Triangle offense a bit over the various championship teams due to personnel.... he never had bigmen like Shaq or even Gasol-lite in Chicago. I think there's room for modifications, and maybe the wise words of Tex Winters over a cup of tea in the midwest can shed some light.
But I think they may use some P&R, especially since I don't want to see Amare hold the ball too much on offense. They won't rely on it, since good teams can defend it in the playoffs, but we'll see.
