As for the offense being better the last two years with Taj in the lineup, I think it has more to do with Boozer being awful (51.0 TS% and 48.9 TS%) than any uptick in Taj's efficiency (51.8 TS% and 52.4%).
Thibs doesn't like to change his rotations into the season, but Gibson played more than Carlos and finished games, the most important minutes. He also called Taj a starting level player. But said sacrifices had to be made all around. Taj's was not to start, and Boozer's was not to play the whole 4th quarter. I find Boozer's a lot more damming.
While it is true that Boozer's negative value hurt the offense, Taj had a positive offensive value even adjusted for teammates. In other words he wasn't just 'less bad' than Boozer at offense, but actually good, or net positive, while Carlos was simply bad.
