make a fanboy Drummond trade. just do it.

Det out: Jennings, Bynum, Datome, Mitchell, Smith, DRUMMOND
Det in: Nash, Ennis, Bogdanovic, Warren, Pho 1st 2015, Min 1st 2015 (heavily protected)

Why?
moves on from Smennings, shrinks roster, and can sign Bledsoe and Monroe to $14m apiece. DRUMMOND goes to the West. we are the team getting large, current cap space to offset the other inequality. Phoenix will be capped out and can't shoot for Bledsoe.

LAL out: Nash, Randle
LAL in: Bynum, Datome, Morris, Morris, Mitchell, LAL 1st 2015 returned

Why?
depth and gets pick back while the Morrii are a decent offering for Randle. don't add salary.

Pho out: Ennis, Bogdanovic, Warren, Morris, Morris, Pho 1st 2015, LAL 1st 2015 (light protection), Min 1st 2015 (heavy)
Pho in: Jennings, Smoove, Randle, DRUMMOND

Why?
improves both big man spots, gets the (by far) best player in the deal, who improves the future as well. They give up on Bledsoe, but maybe they have already. Coach Hornacek is the man and can make this work (if anybody can.)

Bledsoe, Augustin, Ennis, Nash
KCP, Meeks, Dinwiddie
Singler, Martin, Butler, Bogdanovic
Warren, Jerebko
Monroe, Gray

^
gosh that's a mess.
Nash gets bought out and we sign a jank center. Jerebko could be the 4th string center and Singler could get minutes at the 4. Everything is coming up Milhouse...

all id want is the picks - thats about the worst trade ever proposed in realgm forum history. but it was hilarious
Pistons vs. Warriors in the Finals in 2017 - With KCP hitting a game winner so the Pistons dont get swept.

As long as we're through the looking glass, there is NO WAY we should attach ANY negative value if we trade Drummond (i.e. Smith & Jennings). If you're trading Dre, you're wanting over-the-moon maximum return, and you don't diminish that by asking the other team to take back some of your junk. In fact, I'd go the other way and take back some of THEIRS. Maybe something like …

DET TRADES: Drummond, Jerebko & Bynum
BOS TRADES: Gerald Wallace, Marcus Smart and 3 of their stockpiled first round picks

Not that I'm endorsing this, mind you; in fact, I threw up a little in my mouth when I typed "Drummond" next to "DET TRADES." Just answering the call of the OP, that's all.

So you've turned Dre from an incredible asset, into a sweetener in a deal meant to shed toxic contracts? Ugh...

If I'm trading Dre, I want 3 young starters in return. And probably still a pick.

Dre for some combination of Wiggins, Thompson, Bennett and the Heats pick would be more in my wheelhouse.

My fanboy trade was WAY better for Detroit than that...

I'll just agree to disagree since this is a bizarro-world discussion anyhow, but IMO, Smart > any player the Pistons acquire in your deal and 3 first rounders > 2 (especially since one is "heavily protected"). And I don't care about the money side of it, 'cuz we shouldn't care about having toxic contracts for the next few years f we're trading Drummond.

DRUMMOND
Jerebko
Datome
Mitchell
2nd of 2015

for

WIGGINS
Thompson
Haywood (magic contract can expire or balloon for the right trade)
2015 Miami 1st (protections, but will result in a 1st at some point)
2015 Memphis 1st (protections, but will result in a 1st at some point)
2015 Cleveland 1st (the lesser of Cleveland's and Chicago's assuming Cleveland is not in the lotto.)

Jennings, Augustin, Bynum
KCP, Meeks, Dinwiddie
Wiggins, Butler, Martin
Smoove, Singler
Monroe, Thompson, Haywood, Gray

That's a healthy return for the 4th best asset in the league and much simpler.
Cleveland would dominate at first and we would just try to win games.
Thompson would be tradable. Maybe a 3-way with Philly.
TT + Singler + 2nd's for rights to Dario Saric? unload $ and still have 13 guys with small-ball...

Okay, but I would personally take Ennis + Warren over Smart anyday and the 3 1st's sound like late 1st's in much lesser drafts than 2014's. I don't think anybody worth Bogdanovic is likely to be there late in other drafts. And, the elephunk in the room is Eric Bledsoe magically-bizaro becomes a Piston in my scenario. Anyways...was just a very sloppy idea from me. I made another, cleaner one that is probably fair, but would probably get crapped on by Crapalier fans as well as fellow Pistons fans.

Drummond, Jennings and Smith for Westbrook and Ibaka?

I don't think any of the 4 guys I would trade Drummond for would be available.

Westbrook
LeBron
Durant

Detroit trades Drummond to San Antonio for a player to be named later.

Here is another Drummond fanboy trade. Monroe can play C and we get depth and shotblocking at PF and a strong shooter at SF. A solid PG on top of this and we are a lock for the playoffs.
