strange that that hasn't been reported in other places. you'd figure other outlets would have picked up on that.
simmons was at the super 64

I watched a little of Maker v Brown and came away happy with what I saw from both. I can see the Thon hype right now but his game needs some tweeks outside of just growing.
Brown looked dumb good though. hides his shaky handle well when he attacks cause he cradles it and uses strides and power to get to the rack. But he moves fluidly, plays extremely hard, and makes smart plays. he had a few standout plays in the first half from what i saw that just speaks to his IQ and team play which was a revelation considering his age combined with the gifts he has.
At the rate he's going I don't see it being far-fetched that he could have been among the top guys this past draft, a possible number 1 in 2015 if he was eligible, and the likely number 1 in 2016.
granted a lot can change between now and then. but as it currently stands Jaylen should be the number 1 pick in the 2016 draft.
This coming from a guy that's huge on both Rabb and Simmons. I think Jaylen's pro potential has both of them beat at the moment.

I basically watched the entire game. Thon justifies the hype he gets. He has such a mature game, like that KG faceup game.
Jaylen was an animal, he really does a good job of hiding his handle. Man, now I see what adding extra muscle will do to a player! Wiggins should take note! His feel for the game is great for a player his age. He knows when to make the backdoor cut(missed alley-oop), He knows where to attack the defense, and knows where to be on the defensive side of the ball. If eligible, I think he'd go as high as #4 overall to Orlando last draft.

been thinking about this and I can't pinpoint any one person to make the comparison with. Lot of bits and pieces to choose from though. I wanna call him wreckless Wade but his handle and change direction isn't as good. strange as it may sound, I see some "fully engaged" Jeff Green especially in the open floor.
Defensively its hard to say and I couldn't get the comparison feel out of that game which was his 2nd of the day so he took some possesions off at times. When engaged though he read the offense well, hustled and made plays in his area, guarded Thon in the post on some possessions, offered weakside rim protection, and scrapped. I'd like to see him when he's been rested prior to a game to see him give 110 on that end because there's nothing in his makeup that speaks to half-a$$ed effort on a regular basis.

yeah i got it recorded so i'm gonna finish it up later tonight with some other games i've been meaning to check out. I wanna see the title game as well since I read Chase Jeter showed his a$$ a little. I primarily wanna get a feel for his pro projection at this stage. Thought lotto coming in we'll see if i still feel that way afterwards.
But BRUH!!! that alley Jaylen got tossed had sportcenter top 10 potential. He was entirely too high. I gotta watch again but he had to be well past the midway point of the backboard on that one. Like i said before in this thread he's not a Wiggins level leaper but he ain't far behind and considering some of the things he has that Drew doesn't, we're looking at something else with this kid.
My fave sequece was the steal from Thon when he provided help in the post, the hustle to save the ball and be aware enough to locate a teammate, fill the wing, drift out to the deepest part of the corner to spread the floor as much as possible set his feet on a dead run prior to the pass coming then catch and shoot the corner 3 with pic perfect form and bury it.
He's 17.

I swear he's going to be special. I like his tenacity and focus, which Wiggins seems to lack in focus(playing to the level of his competition.) Besides the 20 extra pounds and his on-court dominant nature; I don't see much difference between the two. This is what fans envisioned last yr at Kansas. Kevin Durant is a nice guy but always focused.

I think Kansas fans will get what they envisioned last year in Oubre this year to be honest. As far as a super athletic wing that's willing to be aggressive goes. Oubre doesn't seem like a kid that has that drawback to his game. The results of this remain to be seen lol. For better or worse though I think the Jayhawks will get the aggressive wingplay they lacked a year ago.

I have questions about his defense, Oubre that is. If Wiggins was 6'8 220 lbs and had the dominant play; do you think he would have been a unanimous #1 pick?

Oubre might not be technically sound but the effort is definitely there. I think he wants to be good defensively and has the tools to do so. He should get some discipline with coach Self and Oubre will eventually be a good defender at this level and the next.
If Wiggs had Jaylen's size and attitude then yeah I don't think there's a question about his stock. He got number 1 off his potential and an injured Embiid despite all the warts in his game. You get rid of those warts and keep the upside he MIGHT keep that spot even with a healthy Embiid.
I honestly think the only thing that would have kept Jaylen from a top spot in this past draft outside of rules would have been hype and level of comp played against. there isn't much to seperate him from Wiggins and Parker as far as wings go. He gives you the covers for things that the other 2 lack along with room to fix the things they have over him.
Scary enough he's 2 years away from seeing the league and has things he wants/needs to work on but he just might be better than the 2 kids that were super hyped in this class. Jaylen still needs some polish but his work ethic is crazy so I don't doubt he puts the work in. I mean look at how far and fast he's risen so far.
With all the hype and as good as Wiggins has the potential to be; if he and the wings to follow in the next few years improve at the same rate, im not certain he's the most talked about wing 5 years from now. Let that sink in.

This. It's going to be ridiculous. I love this kid! It's scary because he's at least 2 years away from the NBA. I have another question: do you like this upcoming draft class?

as it stands with the talent thats expected to enter, yeah i do. Its not as talent rich from early glance as what 2014 seems to be giving us but there's some quality in it I think. All the bigs should be nice for the league if all the expected ones declare. Im big on Okafor as a pro ready kid, big on Towns' potential, don't like Turner as much as I once did but I can still see some good qualities in him that will make him effective in the league. Love Stan Johnson and think he will be a stud and be one of those NEEDED pieces on a team to win a chip. Not huge on Oubre but there's no question that there's NBA level ability there. Like Delon Wright even though he's old as **** and I think he should have left last year but whatevs i think LeVert makes a leap, had aspirations for Seldon but with SlavNu Ginobli and Oubre if Seldon doesn't get his **** in gear he might be a 3-4 year guy.
I wanna see how some of the other returnees who are supposed to make leaps this year do. But overall not as much talent in this one and it appears to be more of a "basic" draft with all the quality in the first round and elite stopping around 3-5.
should be the same in 2016 as far as basic. just all the "real talent" in the lottery, Jaylen being the prize with Simmons and Rabb rounding out the 2nd tier.
This is as of today though. Things are likely to change between now and then though.
