Amare before Melo was the best....NY seen ince PAtrik Ewing...but overall

Kurt THomas healthy, best defender, rebound and shoot the ball very well.

Everyone else, is incomplete, plays no D or no O...Kurt was a stud by today's standards.

How has have dikembe mutombo and nazr mohammed not been mentioned? I go easily Amare as best big since Ewing but Nazr was pretty effective for the short time was here. Even though Dikembe wasn't much help when he was here I'd like to see him mentioned before guys like Slavko Vranes and Othella Harrington lol.

Michael Ray Richardson is the first guy that pops to mind first. Then Stephon Marbury (yes, Marbury as hated as he was among the best guards at any position the Knicks have had since Frazier). Oh I don't know. Sprewell and Houston would be among the tops even though the best years of Sprewell's career was spent in Golden State (and Sprewell was just nasty with the Warriors...in his pre-corn row days) and Houston was basically just a one dimensional shooter (albeit a terrific one).

There's a reason why the Knicks haven't won a championship since Frazier. Just looking at the "best since" can give you a hint why. Cause as much as we want to believe that anyone can win if you play team ball, the reality is that you have always needed talent to win. And the Knicks have never been a talent heavy franchise since Frazier's prime and the champion ship year of 73. You had Ewing never having that true 2nd guy (John Starks is no more a championship caliber 2nd guy than JR Smith is) coming close but never winning. Then when Houston and Sprewell came on board, Ewing was basically looking at the end of his career. Then the dark decade plus where the likes of Jamal Crawford, end of his career Penny Hardaway, end of his career Larry Hughes and JR Smith dotting the Knicks landscape...

ABout Houston, one dimensional sure, but he always got his shots in the flow of the offense....that's what Mello needs to learn, but at age 30 he never will. Some guys just look selfish and Melo looks and acts the part.

Anthony is A LOT better than Houston. If Anthony had Sprewell, Camby, LJ and a aging Ewing (and the rest of that team) the Knicks would have been a serious threat for a title. If Houston was on this team the Knicks would be even worse. How's that? What flow of offense are you talking about? Anthony in Woodson's no flow offense run by the worst starting PG in the NBA and the bad JR Smith as the teams 2nd option for most of the season? Is that the offensive flow he was stopping? People keep saying this. That Anthony needs to make his teammates better. How would a one dimensional shooter like Houston have made this team better? Anthony, a PF, averaged more assists per game than Houston, a guard, despite having a no offense system and not anywhere near the other options Houston had. What on earth do some of you guys expect Anthony to be/do? OH I KNOW...you guys want him to be Lebron James. So why wouldn't have wanted Houston to be Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant? Because Houston was a nice guy and Anthony seems like a selfish prick?? What does any of that have to do with basketball?

It's easily Amare. He broke down early yes but he carried us for half a year with a bunch of young guys and cast offs. He earned that title without question and to overlook him is just wrong.
