Re: Sixers, Cavs, Wolves.
If we can get Bennett or Waiters for just Thad and salary then we should be doing cartwheels.
It wouldn't be because those guys are so much better than Thad, but that we have already closed the book on Thad and he isn't going to be part of the team long term. Waiters and Bennett both have more talent than him even if they both have issues that he doesn't have that may keep them from reaching their potential.
Bennett has the weight problem, and Waiters has the attitude problem, but both issues are not lost causes. Plus, they both are still on their rookie deals. It is a risk worth taking.
As much as I would love to see a trade like this happen, I am currently assuming that there is no chance. It just seems too good to be true.

+100, well said. This sums up everything. I LOVE Thad, but he isn't part of the future of this team.

Re: Sixers, Cavs, Wolves.
Where do you see Bennett fitting offensively and defensively?
Like many 6'8, 240 tweeners, they have a tough time defensively. They are too slow to guard threes and too short to guard fours. Occasionally, they have strength, reach, and wingspan to play the four. Some players in that mold will succeed, but most struggle.
I don't know much about Bennett, but that build is often the kiss of death in the pro game.

I love the optimism but let's translate what you really just said
MCW (terrible shooter in college, still not a good shooter)
Daniels (can't shoot)
Hollis (great 3pt% when taking 1 shot a game)
Bennett (can't shoot)
Noel (shot 53% from the line the last time he played competitive basketball and is going to be better than that)

Offensively, he fits our system because of his skillset, feel for the game and IQ. He will play like Milsap, Antic or Diaw (scorer version) with the Spurs/Hawks system. I also can see a lot of pick and pop between MCW and him.
Defensively, I think Benett's liability on defense wouldn't be put into the spot light with Nerlens. He could actually be the banger we need that has the length and strength (weight) to defend the post. I think the key for a tweener to survive on defense is to let them play with a defensive anchor. For the same reason how small line-ups can survive on defense.

MCW is a shooter in HS. Has good mechanics and has improved his shooting compared in college.
Mcdaniels has shown he can knock down 3s from what i've seen from SL.
Hollis can shoot. If not, he has no purpose in life.
Benett showed his shooting in SL and in college.
Noel is an improving shooter. I don't expect him to be Ibaka level by next season but he's definitely improving.
Sorry for the confusion would have been accurate if I put out the numbers but I'm just too lazy to do so right now, so I'm just basing it on eye test.

Let's edit what you said:
MCW (really bad shooter)
McD (below average 3pt shooter)
Hollis (shows signs of being a good shooter)
Bennett (good shooter in college)
Noel (will be much improved from the FT line, not horrible but still below average)

Sign me up for either Bennett or Waiters. Why not? Thad's gone anyway, let's get a young player with some potential on a rookie contract. Problem is, I don't think either is an option, or Hinkie would have jumped all over it by now. My guess is, when its all said and done, we will be receiving a 1st RD pick from Cleveland.

Another thing to consider is the possibility of trading either Bennett or Waiters later on if they could garner a good return.

Re: Sixers, Cavs, Wolves.
I think we should all be praying for Bennett + Memphis 1st. Hinkie clearly likes Bennett (shown from rumors, his block+assist numbers, his potential coming out of college, and if you ignore his rookie year, which Hinkie said you need to look past sometimes to find a good player) If we made Wroten into something, than Bennett has a shot. I don't think Waiters has a place coming to Philly because if Wiggins and Bennett are being traded Waiters would just be a throw in and I think the Cavs value him more than that, especially if they trade Wiggins since he will still be their starting SG.
That said, that is a lot of value for Thad, so we will probably have to take on Barea and or/ Martin, and if that's not happening I would easily give up Thad for just Bennet or just a Memphis 1st. I just feel like we could do really well in this trade because I believe that Hinkie values Bennett way more highly than Flip does but will never show it, while Flip also likes Thad a lot, so while giving Flip a good player and potentially taking on a bad contract as well we could get some serious value ala Bennett + Memphis 1st +Barea/Martin

Re: Sixers, Cavs, Wolves.
Bennett could be a super sub off the bench who can help create matchup problems and as long as Noel or Embiid are out there with him could probably hide some of his deficiencies.
In the end he and Waiters are undervalued assets which fits the Sixers MO. Bring them in, let them play large minutes hopefully developing and putting up inflated numbers and if you don't think they are a long term piece flip them for something else.
Keep trading nickels for dimes, dimes for quarters and hopefully eventually quarters for dollars.

The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

You can't imagine it, because its a fantasy return and it won't happen.

Re: Sixers, Cavs, Wolves.
we really have no leverage here.
Thad is gonna walk as soon as he can, now is the best time to move him, and as much as I love Thad's game...lets face it he isn't a star or anything so his value isn't that high with all of that considered.
So we really can't be picky in terms of which "prospect" we get back or else Minnesota just does the deal with out us.

We don't have to do anything either. If they want us to take Kevin Martin's massive contract, then they better sweeten the deal.

There is a mild amount of leverage. Obviously Minnesota wants someone who can help them win now in the Love trade and they may not view a Wiggins/Bennett package as having enough benefit in the next 2 years (read to save Flip's jobs). If the Wolves insist that they need Wiggins and Thad to make a deal happen the Cavs then need to ante up to get Thad.

It depends on how much Minnesota wants Thad. The article made it sound like they are pretty high on him. But who knows how the discussions went down.

Re: Sixers, Cavs, Wolves.
I could see us ending up with Anthony Bennett, Kevin Martin (salary dump) and a pick.
Wolves would then receive Thad, Wiggy, Dion (kmart replacement) and picks.
And of course, Cle with love.
Tbh, I don't see us trading any picks away. The only asset I see us letting go if ever would be Thad, and that's it.
