Please don't. We have too many psuedo-physicians in here already.....don't bring them out.

I meant to say 4-6 months, but you're right, we have way too many physicians who know it all and we don't need much more of that in this thread. Some of these jokers are buzz kills.

I think kyrv was referring to the ACL, since the post he was responding to was talking about how even though you are healthy, your body doesn't fully come back until the second year. Regardless, if you don't want the people who disagree with you ruining your good vibes:

(a) Don't play doctor yourself and they won't have anything to respond to;

(b) Don't call those people names.

They'll probably stay away. No one is unhappy with positive reports about Derrick Rose's physical condition. Every Bulls fan wants him healthy and dominating.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Won't do anything to the tendinitis. The tendinitis is very overrated anyway. These are run-jump athletes. Most perimeter players will have chronic tendinitis. It's just about severity and managing pain and inflammation.

Thanks. Hopefully the turf toe is long gone.

http://blogs.bulls.com/2014/07/the-sun- ... oses-life/

Thanks. A few points I liked:

“It’s totally different,” Rose said of his approach to training and nutrition. “Waking up, making sure that I’m hydrated, drinking six to eight bottles of water every day, things that I thought I’d never do. Eating, taking supplements just for my blood flow, just everything. Stretching at night, using a roller. Just becoming a professional. I remember my rookie year and I would see all the old players stretching and bone-rolling and using trainers to stretch them. I didn’t think nothing about it. But now I’m kind of mad because I didn’t take advantage of it when I was younger and whenever I talk to these younger players, I try to tell them, ‘Man, get the maintenance on your body. Get massages. Make sure you’re always getting treatment because you’re going to need it for this long career.’

“I think this is the most talented team I’ve played on in my NBA career, to tell you the truth,” Rose said. “With all the players I have, the experience that everybody is bringing to the table, and the way everybody is working out individually in the offseason from what I’ve been hearing. Just seeing Tony Snell bust his (butt) in the gym the whole summer. Seeing Doug [McDermott] come in and doing the same thing. And they end up playing well [in summer league]. It kind of gave me a boost and let me know that hard work pays off. So I’m watching them play summer league games a couple of times, see them playing with a lot of confidence. It just gave me confidence coming to this trial, actually. I think that we have a deep team and we have players that have one goal, and we’ll do anything to get there.’’

“I feel great, man,” said Rose. “I don’t have any aches, knock on wood (he literally knocked on the basketball floor beneath him) I feel great, for real. I’m really taking care of my body. I really feel like a pro. I usually say whatever the game needs (is what I’ll do). That’s what I’m going to put into the game. I learned that by actually playing through my mistakes with the first injury. Just seeing that I was forcing everything. It wasn’t just the way I was playing, I wasn’t enjoying the game like I was before the injury. Now it feels like I appreciate it a little bit more, just enjoy being on the court and playing the game I love playing.’’

Count me as a guy who will be skeptical until he shows that he can keep healthy through the regular season and the play-offs, but it least he seems to have his head and body starting in right place.

Because Rose can control his body and health? Why would you be skeptical. He goes out there, plays, that's it. What else are you expecting from him....

I'm not skeptical of Derrick Rose and all this media attention as it pertains to on the court performance. I'm "hoping" he stays on that court. That's what matters to me, he will play well eventually, he is to good a player not to IMO.

Won't lie, those two clips are pretty sick. Rose playing defense like that is pretty encouraging.

4,5% body fat? That's close to your typical bodybuilder's fat percentage. Insane if true.

A lot of these NBA player's have low body fat %. I remember Jordan was like at 3-4% himself.

That's arguably unhealthy if it's actually a measured number. You are now potentially dipping below essential fats. I tend to believe people just throw around random numbers though and most have no idea what they are talking about.

For one "saying <> doing" he says the right thing, which I am thrilled about, don't get me wrong. A good example is playing hurt. He's competitive, and he said that he shouldn't have done that because it was a contributor to further injury, it is very hard to sit on the bench when you are in a tight game.

Second, and not a "Derrick fault" issue is just how well he can hold-up physically, despite his best efforts. Statistically, how much of your money would you be willing to bet that a guy who had 2 season-ending knee surgeries can stay healthy throughout the regular season and play at a high-level in the playoffs?

No way he's that low, the lowest bf% of an NBA player is prob 8%. Rose is prob 10-12% right now

It's not that big of a deal. Through consistent cardio and a clean diet, it's very achievable.

My body fat is around 6% usually. I work out 3x a week and play bball once a week. During a stretch where I was eating really healthy, my body fat meter (http://www.amazon.com/Omron-Monitor-mod ... B000FYZMYK) couldn't even give me a number it was so low. The lowest actual value I have seen was 5.8%. The results, while not 100% accurate, are pretty close, and pretty consistent.

I feel fantastic when I am eating healthier and subsequently when my body fat is potentially "unhealthy." I love food, so it's hard to stay that low all of the time.

...and I am not a professional athlete. Derrick is definitely below that, if he eats as healthy as he says he has been.

He would of been at 25 ppg and 10 assists per game with McBuckets and Mirotic playing.

Those things are not remotely accurate to be honest. If that's the method of measuring Rose, I'm sure they are wrong. I see it allllll the time in the bodybuilding world. People talk about wanting to get to "6%" or how they were at 7% and all this nonsense. They have no idea what they are talking about. People on 5 figure stacks of gear struggle to hit 5%. At 5%, people start to see striations in their ass. And with that being said, they only hold it for a couple weeks at max and then have to go back up. That's "show ready" and barely functional.
