You guys do realize that he's not from LA right? He might've been born there, but when he was in Oregon when he was 1 all through high school. Then 1 year at UCLA. So he has very little ties to the area really.

I read he's from Santa Monica and moved to Oregon.

Think it's safe to lock this up now. Flip was just playing games.

Good. Then he should have no problem with signing an ext. What? We're just going to take his word for it? No.
Why should he take a 5% paycut?
Because he wants to force his way off of his current team? It's the price he pays to get out of there now and go to the team he wants to, now. Otherwise, he can just wait until he is a FA.

Yeah from Cali (it's all the same to me) and lived in Oregon from age 1 till 18, and then at UCLA for 1 year, so he was only in Cali for 2 years max. Not exactly his home as people make it out to be by any stretch of the imagination.

After reading up on him Love likes LA and chose to go play for the Bruins. He was disliked by Ducks fans and was left rude messages by the fans on his phone.

Where are you getting this from? He isn't forcing his way anywhere. He told them he wasn't going to resign with them and gave them an opportunity to get what they can or keep him for the year. There was no trade demand. There is no reason for him to give up money.

Not following you logic here, man. Regarding the issue at hand. If Kevin Love wants to leave and dictate where he goes now, he is going to have to agree to stay with the team trading for him, other wise, he is going to a crappy team. I hope Cleveland is foolish wnough to trade Wiggins and others for him without an ext agreed to. They would be idiots.. I just can't see any professional basketball executives being that foolish.
.. Are you saying that the Bulls should trade anything of value for Kevin Love if he DOES NOT agree to stay here long term? We should just bet that he will want to stay?... We should just take it on good faith?
That would be a colossal mistake and very foolish for a FO with a contending team on their hands.

He isn't dictating where he is going. Minny can trade him wherever they want. He just isn't signing an extension with teams. And is going to only sign extenstions with certain teams next summer.
If Love says he wants to be here, like he has, then yes, we should trade for him.

They go hand in hand though... Only a crappy team would gamble and trade anything of value for a one year rental.
What would you be willing to trade for Love with no guarantee he would stay after this year?
I wouldn't trade for him period if he cannot commit to being here.

That's all
To me, Wiggins isn't this devastating, gigantic loss for Cleveland. First off, Wiggins is a SF and the Cavs have Lebron there for the next several years. Yes Wiggins can guard SG's (he could probably guard any position) but he's a prototype SF. On offense he doesn't have the ball handling skills to play SG.
Second, watching Kansas play Wiggins was either non existent or dominating the game. He disappeared way too often. He reminded me of watching McLemore the year before. Some games he'd go totally off the deep end and other games he was no where to be found. Wiggins is ten times the defensive player that McLemore is, so he'll impact the game defensively - but if he was that inconsistent in college how will he be in the NBA?
And finally, my opinion is Wiggins will never be as good of an NBA player as Kevin Love is. Love is an elite scorer, elite passer and elite rebounder. I don't think Wiggins will be elite at anything or than defense.
I'm in the camp that firmly believes Cleveland will win 60+ games and win the East if they acquire Kevin Love. I don't think any team (including us) will even take them to seven games. The talent disparity with Lebron, Love, and Kyrie Irving will be so enormous - no team in the East will come even close.

Howard was traded to LA who then left for Houston. Just saying, professional basketball executives make mistakes all the time.

It is asinine to even consider trading those three players when Love won't give a guarantee that he will back.
Let him go to LA and let's worry about our solid team that we have.

If anybody can screw up the Lakers, Jimmy Buss can. I mean, you have to try really hard and be really incompetent to make the Lakers insignificant in the NBA. But, Jim Buss just might be able to pull it off.

Off topic, do any of you know if they are selling Mcbuckets or Mirotic jerseys in the Chicago area? I'm not asking for speculation about the love trade, I am coming home in two weeks and want one.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Love #5: Where there is Love there is life
I love Kevin Love and see how he fits in this team, especially next to Rose and Noah, but there is no **** way i am trading Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott & Nikola Mirotic for Love without an extension right now.
None.
We've invested 3-4 years in each guy. We've developed Taj from a late 1st into a legitimate PF in this league. We've been courting Doug heavily for a while, and obviously, we've had Nikola overseas for a few seasons now and have wanted him here.
No way do i give all that up for Love without a solid commitment. I am sorry, but saying it's for money purposes and wanting to grab as much as he can when he extends worries me, especially with the uncertainty about Rose.
What happens if Derrick goes down this season after trading all those pieces for Love?
You're effectively losing Rose, McDermott, Mirotic & Gibson, whilst also having the real possibility that Love walks and doesn't sign an extension due to Rose going down.
You've just thrown away your contingency plan should the unthinkable happen with Derrick.
Without an extension, we can hang onto these guys and develop them. Should Rose ever get hurt, at least we have something to start a rebuild with.
It's too much of a risk. If he was prepared to sign an extension from the get go, it's a different story, but i doubt that is the case.
