A Terribly Important Discussion Of Terribly Important Things

Post#1 » by Schad » Sun Aug 3, 2014 3:53 am

With the loss tonight, we are guaranteed no more than a split against the Astros. Typically, a split means that the thread-starter continues unless they forget and some random jumps in to fill their spot. And a series loss is effectively automatic replacement.

That said: we have had considerable success under BigLeagueChew. There have been hiccups, but the overall trend is fantastic. A loss in this series would drop us only to 11-6 under his most recent spell of guardianship, a good result no matter how these games in Houston go. Is it time to throw our fate in with the winneryness of the winnerynessest thread-starter, thus allowing BLC to see out the year?

We report. You decide. There is a poll.

BLC should start every game thread from now until the end of the season. He might lose us a series or two, but track record is important. It's been 21 years. No time to play around.

No BLC shouldn't start every thread for the rest of the year. That would take the mystique out of the superstition. And a superstition is null and void without the mystique. I say any loss of a series is on to a new thread starter. And then once that thread starter comes up in a loss or draw. Back to BLC.

Then again it seems like the games I watch the Jays lose. So what do I know. Knock on wood...

Series above replacement?Went through this quickly, probably made a mistake somewhere.

April 11-13 Baltimore - Win Series
April 15-17 Twins - Loss (it was -40 Celsius , blue jays don't like that!)
May 13-15 Indians - Win
May 16-18 Rangers - Win
May 20-22 Red Sox - Win
May 22-25 Athletics Win
May 26-28 Rays Win
May 29-31 Royals Win
June 3-5 Tigers Win
June 6-8 Cardinals Loss
June 20-22 Reds - Loss
July 18-20 Rangers - Win
July 21-24 Red Sox - Win
July 25-27 Yankees - Win
July 28-30 Red Sox - Win
July 31-Aug 3 Damned Astros- split???

We might need to put BLC on waivers soon. Regardless he is ready for a split against Houston and the most important series of the year against the Ugly Orange Birds. Go Jays.

Boo this man. Hawk Harrelson would be rolling over in his grave if he read this response*

BLC is our undisputed leader of TWTW.

*or he'd at least have an aneurysm on air over it. Not that it would be a particularly odd event or anything, but I digress, BLC for life.

Ok, so you want BLC to start the rest of the threads all year. No pressure on the guy lol. Your Hawk Harrelson comment went way over my head. I'll put google him to do on my to do list. Anyway, not like I care, so carry on.

A reminder that after the first series loss following the big win streak earlier in the season BLC was given the hook and it set the team into a terrible tailspin that we barely recovered from.

I'm fine with BLC starting every series thread except those against National League and very recently National League teams.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Question is, how many of you are willing to defer your RealGM contributors honorarium in order to go out and acquire a legit threadstarter like LittleOzzy? Ownership says that we should stand pat.
