I think Glen Taylor should sell then that new owner can introduce a new rebrand and we can stick with that one for decades rather then just a few years like each of our previous jersey designs. Assuming we still have the team "decades" from now....

The problem is that the new owner would have to guarantee the team stays put. That means the new owner likely has to have strong Minnesotan connections.

Please say this isn't so. :(

Once the logo is part of the NBA Hardwood Classics Line it can't be reused.

"Per NBA policy, the original Hornets logo used from 1988 to 2002 could not simply be dusted off and reused as a primary team logo. It will, however, continue as part of the NBA’s Hardwood Classics retro merchandise division."

So that amazing Seattle skyline logo cannot ever be reused when/if Seattle gets another team :(

Nor can the amazing original Timberwolves (what I personally like to call Timberpuppies or Tpups for short) logo :(

What a moronic rule. If that's the case, let's just rotate the wolf and have straight front face.

They need to do something with the original wolves logo. It is perfect for this new team, I want some of that lighter blue, and green in our jerseys.

I don't think we'll go back to the green. Since both are run by the same group of people, I don't think its a coincidence that both the Wolves and Lynx dropped green as a jersey accent color at the same time. The Wolves did so in August 2010 and the Lynx followed that next summer. The only time you really ever see green anymore on anything Wolves related is in the logo's treeline. Elsewhere, it's been replaced with the silver/gray color.

Good thing they didn't go with their runner up name choice, the Polars. That'd be a nice reminder of exactly what you're signing up for in free agency.

Wow I can't believe Polars was actually runner up. The other potential names must have been terrible.

That's why the Hornets couldn't use their original logo and pinstripes. Pretty stupid.

The 6 potential Names for the Wild were Freeze, Northern Lights, Voyageurs, Wild, Blue Ox, and White Bears.

"so Majka and his group arrived at six finalists "that had potential": Freeze, Northern Lights, Blue Ox, White Bears, Voyageurs and Wild.

The six names were pitched to the fans for feedback, and Majka admits, there wasn't a clear consensus.

"It was a bit of a 'pick em' situation as we got to the end," remembered Majka. "We liked the marketing potential of "Wild", so we went with it."

Who knows who comes up with potential names. I actually like Timberwolves, there a Minnesota animal and they're intimidating (Well, wolves actually aren't intimidating but when people think of animal Wolves they think of the kind of Wolves in fairy tales like 3 little pigs or little red riding hood)

I hope we get re-branded as "winners". I'm tired of the team being branded as a "loser" franchise.

What were the final group of potential names for the Wolves, though?

We should be the Lakers, and that LA team should be something else.

Timberwolves and Polars were the finalists. I'm glad they went with Timberwolves.
Four months before the NBA granted Minnesota a franchise, the nickname of "Timberwolves" was selected as the winner of a "Name the Team" contest. Fans throughout and beyond Minnesota submitted 6,076 entries featuring 1,284 different nicknames. Timberwolves, which was submitted 17 times, and Polars were the finalists. The other 1,282 entries ran through a number of different categories, including animals, fish, political interests, outer space, already-existing team names, some names that had to be researched in a dictionary and a potpourri of nicknames that no specific category could claim.

Let me repeat myself: use my logo as the new primary logo. It combines the new secondary logo with the classic logo and frankly looks, by far, the best out of all TWolves logo.
