They won't do anything until they are sure they can count on Noah, Gasol, and Mirotic as their frontcourt rotation. If they decide to move him, Zeller, Hairston, and a lotto prot 1st? I'd do it.

Switch out Hairston for Neal and I'll take it.

Pass. West is oooold.

But 99% of the others on here would do it.

How about Hendo straight up for Scola?

I would pass as well. West is very old and was part of the collapse last season. Would rather go for Gibson at a higher price or Green for the same type of cost.

David West is a pretty decent PF. Doesn't fit Cliff's system though. If you want to fake trade for a better PF, fine, but they have to be able to hit 3s at least similar-regularly.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Ryan Anderson would be perfect for offense, but i doubt the Pelicans would trade him

Fwiw from a Pacer fans perspective the Zeller/Henderson package could have legs from our end. Since he's been in Indiana I've seen no drop in West's game. He probably had the best on court chemistry with Lance of anyone we had.

Scola for Henderson could make sense. Personally i' suffer through this year with a stop gap guy and keep the expiring Scola deal.

On another note, was Zeller that bad last year? Hearing he can't defend surprises me.

Zeller did a lot better after the All-Star break, he struggles to defend certain players is because he isn't very strong and has short arms but he makes some nice athletic blocks every now and then

Zeller's defense isn't too bad and it's one area I think he can really improve on. His team D is pretty solid and has good anticipation on weakside blocks and picking off passes but he gets caught ball watching too much. He'd actually be a really interesting complement to Hibbert b/c he's athletic and scrappy.

I like the idea of getting West as well.

He might not be a 3 pt shooter, but he can still stretch the floor some.

Indiana fan on trade forum also suggested Zeller, Taylor and Neal.

If Hendo was happy to come off the bench, this would give us some good depth.

Pop quiz: who is older Cody Zeller or Mitch McGary?
Answer: McGary.

Seven foot tall kids who can run and move like Cody Zeller are a rarity. I don't think Cody is a bad player. He is a young player in need of time to develop who was drafted to a team that is a bad fit for his style of play, that switched to a win-now team building approach mid-rebuild, and has a coach who is impatient with young players. That is mgmt's fault, not Zeller's.

But bigs typically peak at 29. He's got a long time to get better. I think trading 21 year old Cody Zeller for an old-timer like David West would be short-sighted.

I wasn't knocking Zeller at all, but they obviously want to win now and I want to get out of the 1st round.

I think West allows us to do that, while we would still have a young core to develop for the future especially with the addition of Vonleh.

Clifford has plenty of patience with players that have skills. Zeller doesn't fit the system and doesn't fit his body type at the moment, skill wise. He is only 4 months younger than Mitch and is way behind in feel for the game at the PF position IMO. Zeller right now has to play on an up tempo team and we have a better younger player at his position too. He just makes the most sense to move.

I'd like for us to see what Marvin and Cody can give us in some actual games before we look to move some players to upgrade our power forward spot. If a great deal for a player that is a good fit for our roster comes around then yeah we should jump on it, but outside of that I think we should stay put and see what Marvin/Cody can give us before we make any moves.
