Boy, we are in a sad mental state right now. When Bledsoe having dinner with sarver is news and gets your attention, you know your desperate for info.
I'm guilty too.

Interesting. How the hell did you find that tweet? At first when I pulled up his twitter account it looked like a random dude, which, I guess he is, but it appears he is either eating or working at that restaurant...that guy doesn't seem to look like the type to just type random bs for no reason.

JTrain wrote:OK don't jump me here: What do people think of Derrick Favors?
I think he has potential and could be very good and that Utah really likes him with that deal they gave him and they seem set at the guard position with Burke and Exum who can both play pt and Exum the two, Burks who can play the two, etc. The one position they don't have much depth at is PF but they have a guy they like and were willing to pay in Favors.
Why? You think they want to trade him for Bledsoe?

No, the fact that they hadn't talked much, if at all, and now are having a meeting is pretty significant.

Trading your best (or 2nd best if you'd rather) player for scraps is how you ensure your team fails. I'm not sure why you felt the need to re-hash Bledsoe's faults. We all know them. Jamesian grandeur or not, if you are fond of winning basketball games, you don't decrease your talent level simply to get rid of someone. Ever.
People mention Lowery because he set the market for point guards looking for contract extensions this off-season.
Right, and that has nothing to do with us having to trade Bledsoe because he doesn't want to be here, nor does it have to do with who we could trade Bledsoe for, so why is that in this conversation? We all know Bledsoe's not worth the max. That's not really the topic though.
I was responding to the part of your comment that I just bolded.

What if after a year that best (or 2nd best, if you will) player walks for nothing? Would you rather scraps/assets or nothing? I agree with you in princple, but when those are the only options on the table, I know what I'm going with.
You can pick up scraps and scrap-like assets at your leisure, no need to trade a potential superstar for them.
So play him and let him walk?

At first glance he seems sincere. Everyone needs to flood the Tweet with replies asking for clarification, pics, etc.

This reminds me of Diamondback fans who cheered each move for a "clutch" guy and "team player" while watching all their talent go out for nothing. The result-->higher payroll and fewer wins. See, you need this thing called talent to win in basketball, and Bledsoe is arguably our most talented player, so yeah, I think you're incredibly wrong for wanting to ship him out for anyone even Yao Ming.
I dont rate Bledsoe as our most talented player. I give that nod to Dragic.Put Dragic out there with the same FA restrictions and I bet he would have many options. I don't rate Bledsoe as a top 10 PG either. Perhaps he has the potential, but he isn't there yet.
I do give Bledsoe high value in the success for this season, and would like to see him here.... but feel the FO has made an adequate adjustment in signing Thomas.
The fact we have had absolutely no enthusiasm from Bled to be here speaks volumes. Bledsoe's mind has been contaminated with Jamesian grandeur. IMO, many here over rate this guy as much as he over rates himself... and the fact that many GMs have turned away is an indicator. And Its not just the contractual equation of obtaining him that caused his barren offer sheet. When Lowry inked up, it was to death of his max deal. Lowry is a better PG and has proven it on the court.
I would say Dragic is more talented than Bledsoe atm, but Bledsoe clearly has a higher ceiling/more potential

If you think skill level is the only thing that makes up talent, then I'd agree, but if you're talking about raw talent and factor in athleticism, it isn't close. I'd rather have Dragic than Bledsoe, but it's not because he's more talented.

Sunsdeuce wrote:I don't agree some here, that say we were winners this off season.
1) didn't upgrade the sf position. As a matter of fact we resigned a player that probably shouldn't have been resigned. Colangelo would have shipped tucker out so fast.
2) Ennis still isn't signed and there was better talent still on the board when he was picked.
3) lost a key starter (frye) while replacing him with (no other word but scrub) tolliver.
4) unsuccessfully used any assets to improve the team. Something that babby and Mcd bragged about doing before the draft.
5) the power forward position still isn't addressed.
6) Bledsoe situation is a mess.
These are subjective views on our off-season obviously, but here's my 2 cents on what you wrote.
1) You don't always upgrade every position every off-season. We maintained the spot by re-signing Tucker. I do think that adding Warren could possibly be an upgrade over Marcus, but we'll see because it's way too soon to make any decisions about rookies.
2) Hard to know anything with any certainty about this. I personally would have gone for Gary Harris, but we don't know that Ennis isn't the best PG in this draft. As I said above, it's too soon to tell.
3) Tolliver shot 41% from 3-point range last season. Frye shot 37%. There's a rather large drop off defensively though, and that's saying something.
4) We used cap space to improve the team. IT2 is a really huge signing for us. He had as good and even better numbers in some categories than Bledsoe last year. The off-season isn't over.
5) It's been addressed, though we haven't improved beyond the internal development of Markieff which we can't really know as of yet.
6) It is a mess, but there's a good chance Bledsoe is still here come Halloween.
