Cavs Meet With Billups For Front Office Or Player Role

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Thu Aug 7, 2014 12:19 am

The Cleveland Cavaliers met with Chauncey Billups.

Billups only visited and a front office role or player contract could form down the line.

No agreement is imminent.

Billups played with the Detroit Pistons last season.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Chauncey was definitely out of gas last year. He had me all pumped in his presser last year.

He has nothing left to give on the court. We saw that last season and it was almost horrific.

He should retire and get a FO job.

Good for Chauncey, he will be a good addition to whichever front office he lands with.

No former Piston should be involved with the cavs. Any team is ok but please not the cavs chuancey.

please don't go to the Cavs. I don't want to think we passed up on Chauncey again. he can be great in a front office role.

looks like SVG is making sure to part ways with the past. first Rasheed now Chauncey released. they used to murder his Orlando teams. he's got no respect for them.

I don't think it's a lack of respect.

I think it's about starting fresh

I appreciate connecting to the past and what Chauncey has accomplished for us as much as the next guy, but I'm fine with SVG's approach. We just walked away from a decade of Dumars overpaying "loyal" guys like Prince, Maxiell, Jerebko, etc and bringing back guys like Ben and Chauncey when they were done.

Just wish he would go back home and work for Denver or for a team like the Clippers. Not surprised that Gilbert wants to bring him in though, Danny boy has had a man crush on the Pistons for years.

Return to Detroit Pistons
