Shotblocking Bigs - Any ideas?

Post#1 » by Cassius » Thu Aug 7, 2014 2:44 pm

Been lurking for the past few years, but with Love now in the fold, I figure I'd open up this discussion. Who are the rim protectors out there who could reasonably be had, whether directly or via 3-way?

Larry Sanders
Kevin Seraphin
Ian Mahinmi
Jeff Withey
Darrell Arthur
Elton Brand
Ed Davis
Jason Thompson
Brandan Wright

It really sucks that Ed Davis went to the Lakers for a bag of socks... he'd have been a great fit with a lot of upside. Whom do you think is the most attainable? We should have some unguaranteed contracts available to grab someone. I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Jeff Withey.

Good topic. I don't follow the free agent wire enough so we'll see what other people have to say. I am painfully curious though, how do you have 7,700 posts but only 4 And1's?

And1's are a relatively new feature. If he posted most of his posts years ago, then his And1's would obviously be low.

I feel like Bismack Biyombo could be had relatively cheap. He only played 13.9 minutes a game and averaged 1.1 blocks.

Emeka Okafor would be the obvious candidate. Not sure if he is fully recovered though. The other candidate is Samuel Dalembert. He is probably available in a package with JR Smith.

Okafor or O'Neil is all I can think of. Be nice if we can package the 3 trash we got from Utah if that option was available and a first for someone to put ahead of haywood. In any case haywood is a very underrated pick up.

Except that trading one of Bron's best buddies would not ( Varejao) work.

I believe Woj tweeted that the cavs offered a first for Mosgov only.

Mozgov, Koufos, Mahinmi for a trade.

Oneal / Okafor for the min. That's about it, unless you're willing to part with Waiters or Thompson.

Gred Oden anyone? If he beats opposing players like he did his EX, we will be set!

Too soon?

I think that you guys should pick up Josh Harrleson. Huge, wide dude who can clog the pain on defense, hustles a lot, and can shoot the three. I honestly can't understand why he hasn't been picked up, he's a quality bench player.

If the Oden experiment in Miami last year showed anything, it is that Oden is too banged up. :noway:

Wait till next summer when Asik is a free agent, get him in a sign and trade for Haywood and a pick.

Also Koufos is absolutely trash. I have no idea how this board got the notion that he is anything better than a 3rd string big.
