A source informed the Daily News that the Sixers will be sending veteran forward Thaddeus Young to Minnesota for a package that will include Bennett, the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA draft.

What a steal. Harris paid 287 million for the team 3 years ago. Probably sell for over a billion today, maybe two billion in the wake of the Clipper sale to Balmer... Pretty good return. I think he can afford a couple years of tanking.

Saw this as well...it shouldn't take long for some confirmation.

Man. I'm gona miss him. True professional. One of my most favorite Sixers ever. Time to move on and trust in Hinkie, I guess.

Sixers getting Bennett would be awesome. Considering his rookie year, he's really got no where to go but up.

Now we're talking! Bennett is going to be such a fun project to follow. Really happy if we can get him. Obviously Thad will be missed a lot, but it's good value for his contract.

Are you sure enough to start the Thad Appreciation Thread?
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

Tom Moore ‏@tmoore76ers now

#NBA source: League might not allow #Sixers-Wolves trade of Bennett for 2nd-rounder because it is designed to circumvent the salary cap.

My thoughts exactly... Do we have two separate deals brewing?

Thad for salary dumps

Second rounder for Bennett

????

That is a strange quote. My only guess would be that if the Wolves/Sixers tried to make a trade AFTER the Cav/Twolves deal it would be structured as two seperate deals. First, Bennett for a second rounder. Then, Barea, LMAM, Shved (for example) for Young. That would be to get around the rule that Bennett's salary could not be aggregated with other players salaries in a trade for 60 days after the original trade.

I think this quote is saying that would be looked down upon by the league, although I think stuff like this happens all the time.

Somebody wrote a post yesterday about how Bennett cannot be dealt right away because they just traded him. So I think we would have to trade a super-protected 2nd for Bennett, and then in a separate trade trade Thad for Barea or something like that. Probably other fillers, maybe picks involved, but I believe that's the premise.

EDIT:jpatrick got there before I did.

Interesting.

Well it now sounds like Hinke is becoming public enemy number one of Silver.

I think he is getting complaints from other owners. He was supportive of our plan as recent as March. Then the sixers get the 3rd pick, while a significantly better team gets the first pick, illustrating the intended effect of the lottery.

Now, he needs to immediately change the lottery system, and reportedly, prevent our trade from occurring. I wouldn't be surprised if he is getting complaints from other owners that he is letting the sixers destroy the league's integrity, and he is caving to pressure to come down hard on them.

When teams, specifically Mark Cuban, complained about the lakers, the league blocked their Chris Paul trade.
